So who am I?  Well, I'm a bit of a nobody really.  Like millions of nobodies out there, I happen to write, and I've been told that I've skill at it.  So here I am.  Hope I don't disappoint.

So a little more detail.  My name is David Bushey, I live in the western United States, Nevada currently, and I'm in my mid thirties.  I graduated college with a degree in English Literature and Composition, mostly because I had to graduate before my dad died of ALS and when I took my transcript to the councilor, she took one look at it and went 'Well, this is all over the map.  Um... English Lit, probably.'  Once I had that, there's only one thing you can do with an English Lit degree: teach!  Unfortunately then the bottom fell out of education so I'm fiddling about trying to find what else to do with my life.

So why do I call myself 'Somber'?  Well, first there's my writing.  It's rarely happy writing.  Bad things happen in my stories to characters who don't really deserve what happens to them.  Secondly, I have a form of depression called dysthymnia.  It's basically chronic, neurological depression.  SSRI's just make me stop doing everything, and counseling doesn't help.  So I write.

What sorts of things do I write?  Well, I tend towards annoyingly large stories.  I started publicly writing in 2011, doing My Little Pony fanfics, and I still do.  I wrote a spin off story of Fallout Equestria called Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons.  It grew to more than 1.78 million words before being completed.  People seem to like it though.  I'm now working on a sequel called Homelands.  I'm hoping it'll be a bit shorter.  I tend towards female protagonists overcoming extreme adversity.  I also enjoy writing GLBTQ characters, and the complexities they face.  I'm a fan of high fantasy stories, urban fantasy, and science fiction.  I love a variety of anime, and sometimes the tropes bleed through.  While occasionally my writing might get 'spicy' I generally don't write explicit, pornographic materials.  Nothing worse than what you'd read in Game of Thrones, I suppose.

So that's me in a nutshell.  Thanks for reading this and supporting me.  It's really all that keeps me going at times.

'Thank you for writing' support.
$1 or more per month 32 patrons
This is the basic 'thank you' support pledge for people who enjoy my writing.  This level pledge gets access to stories as they're published and whatever brain drippings I make in the mean-time.
'Write this' support.
$5 or more per month 20 patrons
General support pledge to keep me writing.  Patrons at this level not only get access to everything as I publish it, but they also get to vote on what original content will be written for off weeks.
'Can I see your sausage' support.
$10 or more per month 16 patrons
This level of support not only gets early access and voting, but will also be given links to the 'raw document' as they're worked on and edited.  You'll get to see the sausage as it's being made.
'You should be writing this' support.
$20 or more per month 5 patrons
In addition to all previous access, voting on the next story, and getting the raw story, you will also be able to put forward a story idea for a first chapter.  I'll write an excerpt or introductory scene for the idea.
'What do you think about this' support.
$50 or more per month 1 patron
At this level of support, not only do you get everything before, but I'll also either critique your own writing, or I will review a story that you'd like my opinion on.  Longer works might take longer to get back, unfortunately.
'Run a game for me' support.
$100 or more per month 0 of 5 patrons
So if you can pay this money, I'll run a four hour RPG with you.  I can only do up to 5 people, but I'm flexible with whatever systems.  I'll run over Discord on a weekend that falls between Homelands and OC material being released.
'Wack a guy for me' support
$500 or more per month 0 patrons
Okay.  I won't kill some one for you, but just about any legal request would be considered at this point.

This is about what it costs to make a convention or two a year.  It'd be nice to meet folks.
