About Me

Hello, I'm T.J. McKinney from western Kentucky, USA. I love outer space and I hope that one day I can visit, work or live there. It may be the Moon, Mars, a space station or even on a star ship traveling to new worlds. Since going to space may not a realistic dream for myself or thousands of other people, I want to do something right now that will be fun and exciting.

To promote the idea of getting man to space, I decided to create a Space Station Hotel, in a real-life building on Earth, with a simulated environment when you look outside the windows. Not only a hotel, but a lot more. This complex will have apartments, grocery store, workshops, recreation area, library, stores, laundry room, cafeteria, restaurant, and more. It will be a community where people may decide to move here long-term or just visit for the weekend, week or even a month at a time. It will be a great place for cosplay and role-players to come for a weekend, or even longer. I may be able to give others and myself the thrill of what it may be like living in space on a space station. I cannot reproduce the lack of gravity, but we will consider the gravity problem as simply having artificial gravity in our space station simulator building. I started this Space Station Project to help inspire other people to reach for the stars and don't be afraid of huge goals in life. Right now, it is only an idea but I hope that with your help, we can make this a reality.

What will it be exactly?
This is NOT a game, this is NOT a computer program! It will be a real-life building (on Earth) where we will decorate the inside to look like what a space station may look like. This simulated environment will have several buildings connected together and will likely be enclosed in a very large warehouse. This warehouse area will allow us to install audio/video special effects and digital projectors to make it very realistic while looking out of the windows of the interior structure.
What will it look like?
AT first, we will just purchase a building, so the outside will look normal. The inside, I hope to decorate it to look like a space station or some star ship. Later on, we will use shipping containers to create a giant complex, piece by piece. If you are in our completed building, and look out of what appears to be a window, you may see the Sun, Moon, Stars, Mars, the Asteroid Belt, or even Earth outside of your spaceship hotel room, or just sit and drink coffee with friends in the community lounge room with the soft glowing blue essence of Earth over the shoulders of your newly met friends through the observation windows. When I say space station, I don’t necessarily mean the cramped spaces of the ISS (International Space Station), I'm thinking of something more futuristic, with plenty of space like the interior of the TV show Deep Space 9 space station, or even the interior of Star Trek Voyager's star ship, or maybe something totally different. We will be needing volunteers to help design this!

What is a shipping container?
A shipping container is a big metal box, that is used to send items across the ocean on large ships. Once it has been emptied at the dock, they are sold to shipping container re-sellers. Many people buy shipping containers and turn them into tiny homes, workshops, storage buildings, or even underground storm shelters. We will be using shipping containers for our projects after we have made income from our normal building locations. Once we made profit we will buy the land and containers, and design it with vivid imagination!

What will be on the inside?
Imagine a building that is closed to the outside world. You do not see any sunlight, unless it is our special effects that we create while you are looking out of the window. There will be different rooms designated for different things. It will start out small but through “Space Tourists” visiting this like a “Space Hotel” we will gain funds and be able to continue to offer this space attraction. There will be private rooms for our hotel guests, but also barracks, private sleeping quarters, kitchen, cafeteria, a grocery store, greenhouse, meeting rooms, workshops, engineering dept, recreation room, library, computer room, workshops, and even a section of apartments for those that work here or those that want to stay long-term in this relaxing atmosphere. We will accept volunteers, but later we will hire part-time and full-time help. We will be happy to host Star Wars or Star Trek cosplays, along with days where any one and every one can dress up in any space costume that you want, or simply come as a human space traveler! If we decide to go the "star ship" route more than space station, then we may have a "bridge" where the captain controls the ship. We will have actors and actresses that are volunteers or workers but role-playing at the same time. We will try our best to make it appear that you are really on a space station. Of course, you will not float, but that's because we have artificial gravity on our space station!

Who are you making it for?
We are making this for anyone that loves space, space movies, cosplay of any type, basically anyone with an imagination. Imagine a Space Station Hotel, where you can visit for the weekend with family, or stay for the week doing role-playing, or live here permanently in a space themed apartment. All of these buildings will be under one giant complex once we get it up and running. We are making this for everyone. Imagine that you could work and live here, and never have to go back to your stressful job you have now.

How will you get people around the world interested in this?
We plan to also have all of the hallways and community rooms LIVE STREAMED!
People all around the world will be able to look and see what is going on 24/7.
Friends and family can check in on you also, or you can talk to them on the computer stations where we will set up Skype accounts so you can talk to them privately.

Where will this be located?
It will be located in the USA. I have not chosen the location yet. We will start with 1 location, possibly in Kentucky where I currently live, but it is possible we will do this in the desert since there are many cheap listings for desert property. That is something we may look at when we are ready to build our own structure, but first, we may just simply buy a large building. I do want to purchase property near larger cities so that we have more local interest in the project and if people fly in from out of town it will be more convenient. I have a goal to put a "Space Station Sim" near Nashville, TN, western Kentucky, Las Vegas, Dallas, New York, as the first 4 possible locations. We may put one near the Spaceport America which is not far from El Paso TX. We do not have the property or buildings purchased yet, so we have not decided on a location at this time.

How soon will you start this?
This project can only go forward if we have the funding to do so. We will need supporters to help us obtain a large building, with a floor-plan that will work for what I need it to do. An old high school with a gym, may be an idea location. If we get this funded by October 1, 2018 then I hope to have the property and/or building purchased by January 1, 2019. We can easily jump into this project right after we have made the purchase, if there are no building codes or permits to obtain. I must be careful to make sure the local ordinances will allow this type of project, which may be considered a motel/hotel or campground, or some other definition.

To know if we will be able to achieve this goal, we need people to agree to purchase passes to live at the space station sim building. Since supporters that want to participate, will actually live here, then we must charge rent as a form of income for our project. By donating, you can be rewarded with passes to visit here 1 day, 1 week, or even 1 month. To purchase our own property in the desert, it may just cost $20,000 for 40 acres. But, we will have to pay for a well to be dug, and electrical hookup, internet lines to be run, and septic system to be run, along with plumbing lines to be run. It will be a large expense. I will also be looking for a building to buy that will be ready for us to move in at a moment's notice. Large buildings vary in price depending on where it is, many probably average around $300,000. We will need the funding to purchase a building before we can agree to do any of the weekly or monthly simulated missions.

What will I get if I donate?
Since I prefer when someone donates to get something out of it, I would like to have the opportunity for Patrons and other donators to actually get credit to visit or live here from their donations. Of course, if you don't want to live here or do not have the ability to move or visit, we would really appreciate any donations that you decide to give to help us achieve our goals. I will set up some Patron donation goal for those that want to prepay for visiting the Space Station sim building. If you want to work, great! You can be one of the first to apply. If you only want to come and relax, then you may prepay but contact me and let me know you want to come once the main structure if finished. At that time, we will accept tourists only. You will see pictures, YouTube videos, Live Facebook videos and live streams to see your donations in action!

Once we have our own building, we will be charging $100 per day, $500 per week, or $1500 per month to live here long term basic, and this includes 3 meals per day of our choice, rent, electricity, water, natural gas, trash pickup, cable and fast internet. Any of your donations to help us purchase a building or supplies, will go towards the daily, weekly, or monthly rates to live on-site.

Did you always have this huge project idea?
No. At first, I just thought it would be cool to have a restaurant with a space themed menu. Then I thought, wouldn’t it be awesome to look out of the window and it appear you were on a space station orbiting the earth while eating in the restaurant? Then I thought, a space station hotel would be romantic also. I decided, it’s ok to start small, but it is also ok to dream big.

Will I get paid to be a “crew member?”
Some people have asked if I would pay "crew members" to come and live in this simulated space station. No, I cannot pay people to come live here, since I will be paying for the building, mortgage/lease, electricity and utilities, insurance, internet/cable, and trying to upgrade the entire project. Basically, if you want to visit or live here, part time or full time, you must pay rent just like you would at any other apartment or hotel. Eventually, once we have income coming in, I will convert the most dedicated volunteers into paid employees.

Think of this as any other tourist place, space camp, training, club, or hotel. You must pay to stay anywhere overnight, for a week, or especially a month. Think of it like an apartment, you must pay to stay and get the electricity, internet, water, and other utilities so this will be the same common practice here, except we want people to experience what it may be like living on a space station, and doing group projects with other people in a confined space. This will let you know if you have what it takes to be a team player and not freak out over a small living area. Of course, as we grow, you can eventually obtain your own large private quarters. Do you have what it takes to get promoted?

How much will it cost to visit or live in this Space Station simulated environment?
Prices may change as we get closer to this becoming a reality, but for example, I decided to give two prices for those people that want to help get this "Space Station" or "Space Station Hotel” project going. Since you will be living here for 1 full day, 1 full week, or 1 full month, THE RENT WILL COST $100 for 24 hours, $500 for a week, or $1500 for a month, FREE FOOD, INTERNET, CABLE, ELECTRIC, WATER, NATURAL GAS, AND TRASH PICKUP WITH PAYMENT!
This price will include 3 meals a day (maybe not the best meals, as it will be lots of dry foods like you would see on a space station, there will be freeze dried foods and canned goods also.), but at least you will not go hungry. You can go shopping nearby anytime you want. Also included in the price is electricity, water, natural gas, trash pick-up, fast internet and cable tv. $1500 a month for all of that, is not bad at all. This may allow people to save money each month and simply move out of their boring home, into this Space Station Sim. Space Station 1 will not be decorated as much as future buildings we have, and it will not have the full special effects that the future versions will have. This is just to jump start this project. The prices listed here, are not set in stone, and may change at any time.

Roadmap
(subject to change, updated road-map can always be found on our website www.SpaceStationProject.com)
Here is a rough outline of our goals, subject to change and I will update it as everything falls into place. I tried to roughly put up the order of what we may spend our donations and income on. Subject to change:
Note: I want donators to know that I’m being transparent on my full goal and things I will need to complete them. It is up to you if you want to donate, or if you want to message me saying your donation shall or shall not be used for certain things. I will set up rewards for those that want to donate, to get a coupon to stay free at one of our Space Station sims or other rewards. Normal small donations, or any that is not specifically labeled, will go to whatever I feel is needed the most at the time to achieve the ultimate goal. Any donation you give will be greatly appreciated. I will start a Vlog channel on YouTube for this project soon. Thanks for understanding!)

Phase 1

1. Purchase a building, (I'm also looking for land to buy) somewhere in the USA, at a good price, with no obvious roof or other damages. I have researched some and found we may need $300,000. This number WILL BE adjusted as I find new properties available and present it to the community for input. At this time, we will just use $300,000 as a high end goal to work towards. We may find some land for only $10,000 to $50,000 and if we do, I will update this goal. But the building or land must be paid for and other funds on stand-by before we are ready to start. Once we get the building or land paid for and reveal the location, this should go a lot faster.
We will start getting monthly income from the first crew as "space station tenants" and from donations. As soon as possible, we will purchase a bigger building for more rooms, features and more guests. Basically, the “crew” will simply be tenants and will be experiencing what its like to live with other people in an enclosed space, with limited interaction with the outside world. The first few groups may not get to experience all of the special effects of the simulated station, because they will be responsible to help put it all together for future crew members and "space tourists."

This is a much needed first step to hurry and get the project up and running. The cost per person may be about $100 per day, $500 per week or $1500 per month, (subject to change, depending on the apartment/room size!) but includes 3 meals a day, internet, cable, and all utilities, and of course, a place to sleep. (Sleeping room will contain 5-20 army costs. Future locations will have your own private sleeping quarters. We have to start somewhere!) If you have a good imagination and support this project, then we can make each Space Station sim better than the last. Be patient!
I will hold onto the donations until we get enough to purchase the building, and if for some reason we are not able to achieve even the first few steps, then I may decide to just refund your donation, or communicate with the community on options of going forward. We may have to change our goals drastically to make it work. If we buy a building at a good price, I may decide to immediately put it up for sale to make a profit to buy something else. We should not lose money as long as we had some rental income a few months in addition to selling the first property at equal or higher costs.
2. Purchase all business licenses and insurance to cover this first location.
3. Pay deposits and start up utilities and services. We will get the electric, water, natural gas, internet & cable TV turned on and start the trash pickup services.
4. We will purchase 1 computer for space station guests to communicate privately with family members.
5. We will purchase IP cameras (live-streaming webcams) to be installed around the building. These cameras will ONLY be in the common/community areas and will not be in the sleeping areas or restroom/shower rooms.
6. Purchase army cots for the sleeping area (Barracks style). At first, we will be cramped, (similar to the actual ISS space station) because we will try to have 2 to 20 people in this first location. We will have the sleeping area in 1 room, and we will use army cots at first. This will be more cost efficient and give an atmosphere of camping, roughing it, or team building since we are all in this together. If you were in a real space station, that’s how it would be.
7. Purchase basic supplies for the tenants. I will purchase new items for the building that each member can use. We will constantly have a supply of toilet paper, tooth brushes, tooth paste, deodorant, shampoo, and other personal hygiene products. Of course, you can bring your own, but these will be here for backup if you run out of your favorite brand.
8. Decorate the building. Since our first Space Station Sim building may need general renovation, we may do that instead of decorating it at first. The first several crews will be very important and should be those that can "get your hands dirty" to mold this into something very nice. We will need as much space as we can, so we will not fill it full of non-essential items. Since we want our members to be comfortable, there is nothing wrong with having actual couches and things like that.
9. Purchase a stove, deep freezer, refrigerator, possibly dish washer. We must buy anything like this that is necessary for our members.
10. Purchase food & water. We plan on stocking the cabinets and refrigerator with many common foods along with freeze dried and normal dry foods. We may get things like rice, Ramon noodles, macaroni & cheese, oatmeal, peanut butter, emergency dry food containers, bottled water, sugar, spices, self-rising flour, lots of canned goods, and also basic foods such as hamburgers, hot dogs, bread/buns, cheese, ketchup, mustard, pickles, ranch dressing, tv dinners, and more. If anyone wants to bring their own food, order delivery from a restaurant, or even leave and go get things yourself at a nearby store, you have the freedom to do so. Anytime one of our members leaves the building, the others shall role-play and tell the people on live stream that they are doing a "space-walk" and will be back later. :)
11. Pay for Facebook targeted advertising to get more people interested in this project.
At this point, we should have a minimum of 5 members every day of the month renting, possibly up to 20 members at one time. This income will dramatically help us in decorating, and maybe even buying our next building in a different city. We will consider this first building as Space Station 1, and if we keep this building, then the next building we buy or create, will become Space Station 2.

Phase 2

12. $2000-$3000 monthly income needed. (Note: I plan to earn this from my rental income or my other income, not planning to get it from Patron donations unless Patrons specifically say it is ok to use it how I wish). At this point, I want to be able to leave my current job and work on this project full time. To do this, I need a steady income of $2000-$3000/month to pay my normal bills, then I can help invest heavily into future aspects of this project. I hope by this time, the income on the Space Station 1 (our first site) will be enough to cover this. If it is not, then this is where some of the extra donations will go to, towards my normal bills so that you can trust that I will work on this project full time. This is probably not something many will want me to spend the donations on, and if that’s the case, simply email me and let me know not to spend your money on this, or any particular part of the plan that you do not agree with. But in the overall picture, I cannot fulfill this project until I can put full-time hours in it. We “may” have to set up multiple locations of purchased buildings, in order to achieve enough income for me to go full-time into this project and so that we can build our own structure.
13. $30,000 new truck. (Note: I plan to earn this from my rental income or my other income, not planning to get it from Patron donations unless Patrons specifically say it is ok to use it how I wish). For me to expand this project all across the USA so that more people have access to it a nearby Space Station Sim, I will need to quit my job and travel. To do this, I will need a more dependable vehicle, and something that can pull heavy trailers or an RV. Note: I will be purchasing this with my own money or from rental income or from only those Patrons that specifically are ok with me using donations for whatever I choose.
14. $20,000 buy RV/Mobile Command Vehicle. (Note: I plan to earn this from my rental income or my other income, not planning to get it from Patron donations unless Patrons specifically say it is ok to use it how I wish). To make it cheaper for us all, I would need an RV also instead of simply staying in hotel rooms across the country. I will also use this in the beginning stages of each Space Station location as a command center, and a sleeping area for our first work crew when we find a location. 15. Funds to scout for a new building to buy. I will need some funds to look at various buildings to purchase near large cities for best results. If our income from the "space station hotel rent" is not enough, then this is where the donations will help fund the scouting mission. I can buy blindly from eBay but I feel it’s in the best interest of the community for me to be there in-person to make the decision to buy, lease or not. This step will need funding for a scouting mission to find another building that has more space! Scout mission funding includes my fuel, hotel, normal meal and possibly airline tickets to inspect and purchase the best property for our community's enjoyment and progress. Hotel costs can be eliminated with the purchase of a command center RV.
16. Purchase, or lease a new building in or near a larger city. If we decide to lease, then the amount of funds needed will be lower possibly, but many times its cheaper to just buy things outright. We will weigh this all out at that time.
17. Purchase building permits, business licenses and upgrade our insurance policy to cover this building and our residents.
18. Purchase IP cameras (live-streaming webcams) and supplies to get the live feed connected.
19. Purchase a computer for members to Skype with friends and family. The computer will also be used to make purchases from local restaurants that deliver, or to purchase items from our website so we can deliver supplies to the "space station." It depends on the amount of realism that the current crew wants, if they want to stay in the space station, then the only way to get supplies by us or outside sources. Make it as realistic as you want.
20. Pay for utility, internet, cable hookup and trash pickup services.
21. Pay for a crew to come in to decorate. Special Effects Team is a group that we may create and pay for them to visit each space station and design it so that it’s up to local, state and federal building codes and also will look similar to our other space stations.
22. Purchase appliances: stove, refrigerator, deep freezer and dish washer (possibly), microwave and other basic kitchen equipment, plates and silverware etc.
23. Pay for Facebook targeted advertising mainly for this nearby city to look for new Space Station members/tenants in this Space Station hotel/apartment.

Now that we have a larger building, we have the option to purchase extra items for Space Station 2. We may decide, no more army cots and upgrade to twin or single beds, we may decide to create a greenhouse if we have an extra room, we may decide to make a workshop, meeting room, extra bathroom, and so on. This step will be determined by me, the Captain, CEO, founder, whatever you want to call me, but it may also be determined by a crew member vote, or an entire community vote. This process is yet to be determined. Step 22 will need some funding to complete this goal that we decide.

Phase 3

24. Fund scouting mission. Step 24 is another exciting step. Beginning of Phase 3, which means, Space Station 3 will be started! Not only that, it will be our own land and buildings! No more renting and leasing or owning merely a residential location! As always, this step will need funding for a scouting mission to find another building that has more space! Scout mission funding includes my fuel, hotel, normal meal and possibly airline tickets to inspect and purchase the best property for our community's enjoyment and progress. Hotel costs can be eliminated with the purchase of a command center RV.
25. Purchase our own land. The funding will also cover any title searches, back taxes, or anything else involved in this purchase.
26. Purchase building permits, business license, and upgrade our insurance policy.
27. Prepare the land. First, will hire someone to come in and level the property, with a dozer or whatever they need to use. It may not be worth it for us to own one ourselves, so hiring this done may be what we do here.
28. Pay for gravel, rebar, and a concrete pad to be poured. We need a good solid surface to build our building.
29. Pay for electric pole, meter base, and at least 1 or 2 RV outlets (30 and/or 50 amp), and basic 110 outlets installed on the pole. We will find a location that is remote, to get a good deal on land cost, but we will make sure that electricity connection is available. Due to it being remote, we may have to pay a higher cost to get the wires run to our land and connected. If others that want to visit and work on this project, it will have basic electricity hook up, and an extra RV hookup if needed.
30. Pay for water to be connected. Possibly $1000 (or more if we have to pay to bring it to our location) if it is a new city water, or up to $10,000 to $15,000 for well. Same as with the electric, it may cost extra for water lines to be run to us. In many remote desert locations, city water is not even an option. If its not, then we will need this step of the fundraiser to help pay for a well to be dug. The cost will be $10k to $15k if is in the desert.
31. Pay for sewage/septic tank.
32. Pay for internet/cable. We want to have a remote location, but we will need internet service for the live cams, communication with the outside world, weather, entertainment. We will buy property that will allow this to happen, even if we must pay extra for the lines to be run to our property. Overall, buying desert land should be a lot cheaper than buying a pre-built building in the city even if utilities cost more in the beginning. There are a lot less building codes to worry about also in a remote, desert location.

Phase 4

Finally, our own Space Station building, on our own land!
This is a very exciting Phase! We will now start construction on the actual buildings! Most will be done by shipping containers because they can be pieced together like building blocks and may be similar to how a real space station or Mars habitat will be put together. We will break down each container purchased into its own step, so we can grow slowly according to our donations and income.
Cost of each shipping container is about $3500-$5000 depending on our building location and how far away the seller has to deliver it. We will calculate $5000 each and if it’s less, it will go for paying for more containers or straps/bolts to bold them together, or labor for our workers to help us. Each shipping container is about 8ft wide, 8ft tall and either 20ft or 40ft long. They are very heavy duty, steel corrugated containers and can be put together like building blocks, simply welding them together, cutting out doorways or “airlocks” and even stacking them. The way they are designed may even look like the hallway of a space station or star ship. If we stack them 2,3 or 4 high, then put four sections to make a square, then we will have a giant room and very tall ceiling. This will dramatically increase our space, and also provide a place for us to use digital projector effects to make it appear more realistic when people look out of the windows towards “space.”

33. Buy shipping container 1. (Workshop) - My cost is $3500-$5000 for the container. We will need several, but we can start out 1 at a time. They are 8ft wide, 8ft tall and either 20ft or 40ft long. We will go with the 40ft ones. The price is determined by how far the seller has to drive to deliver to us. Once we get $5000 we will order the container, and anything over the cost of the container, will go towards the main tools, vices, work benches, shelving, sanders, multiple types of saws, sockets, welders, welding supplies, grinder, shop vac, air compressor and anything related to the tools we may need.
34. Buy a large dual fuel (propane & gas generator) because at this location (probably desert property to get the best deal) we will not have electricity at first. Even once we get electricity, we will need portable power.
35. Hire electrician to wire the building for basic electricity and connect the power pole to our first building.
36. Pay for an electrical inspector to approve the electrical hook up.
37. Pay a licensed plumber to connect the water and sewer system to our first building.
38. Buy forklift. I will need our own forklift, to be able to pickup and move this and future shipping containers, to put them exactly where we need. This forklift needs to be big enough to stack shipping containers, at least 2 high, but up to 4 high in the future once we have all of the ground level containers placed, once we have securely mounted it to the concrete pad, and connected the containers together with the proper straps, welding, etc.
39. Buy Genie boom (man-lift). We will need our own Genie boom to work on the roof of our containers to run electrical, HVAC and other things.
40. Buy a carport shelter. This is to protect outside equipment from the sun, since we will probably purchase property in the desert to get a good deal on property, and also to do future Mars simulated, and rover simulated studios too! (teaser)…
41. Buy propane tanks. We will need propane for our generator, and possibly for machinery that uses propane such as forklift, genie boom, or even for BBQ grills for our space tourists!

Phase 5

Time to start creating the actual Space Station for our crews and guests to stay in! To do this, we will need to add more shipping container rooms! Each will cost about $3500-$5000, and will be 8ft wide, 8ft tall and 40ft long. They are made of heavy, corrugated steel and are water proof and storm resistant. We can place them where we want them using the forklift, and we will be able to design it in a way that the container can be a walkway, or even add walls and turn one container into many rooms or storage areas. The following steps may change, depending on the need and voting of the crews and the community, in addition to my plans on upgrading later, and possibly making this 2, 3 or even 4 layers high and adding large roofs to connect the sections. These will be the main components of the entire “Space Station” and will be put together one at a time, in sections, depending on funding availability and need for more space.
In the beginning, those that stay here are “crew members” because we will expect them to help us work on the actual construction of the space station. After several crews have come and gone, it will be nice enough for the casual “space tourist” to come and just enjoy the fruits of the hard labor from the space station founders that put their blood, sweat and tears in before them. Those that come later, will simply be Space Citizen members, space tourists, guests, and also crew & workers. Each section of shipping container will need electricity ran and probably individually inspected each time. We may decide to do a few sections at a time so we do not have to keep calling back the electrical inspector and electrician. We will save money by doing several at once. If we do that, then we can skip some of the following steps.
42. Add Shipping container 2 – (Barracks/Command center). My cost is $3500-$5000 for the container. This is actually the first room for our crew. Very compact. It will be separated into 4 sections within 1 40ft shipping container. Area 1: 2 toilet/sink/shower rooms. Area 2: barracks style sleeping area with 5 to 10 army cots. Area 3: A community area which will have a tv, couches, table & chairs, 3 work desks, 1 computer desk with 1 computer with Skype to talk to loved ones, live camera in the community area that is an open floor-plan with the kitchen area with refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher and basic appliances, Wi-Fi everywhere. Area 4: utility room with washer & dryer & storage possibly in the same open floor plan as the community area. This is the compact area that our crew must learn how to live in and get along with others. Once we earn enough money from their rent, and from donations, then we can proceed to keep adding more shipping container sections, or rooms. From here on, these types of rooms may be voted on by the crews, the community as a whole, or may be chosen by the Captain. (me). Part of this cost will include: Paying a plumber to connect the water and sewer lines, and have it inspected. Paying an electrician to connect the wiring and have it inspected.

The following shipping container add-ons may be voted on from the whole community, by the crew members that are paying weekly and monthly rent on-site, and/or the Captain to see which rooms are needed in what order.

43. Add shipping container 3 – (Community Laundry House) - My cost is $3500-$5000 for the container. This new container will also be 8ft wide, 8ft tall and 40ft long. Once we get $5000 we will order the container, and anything over the cost of the container, will go towards a community Laundry House. It will contain 1-4 washing machines, 1-4 dryers. 1 sink, counter-tops and tables, chairs, 1 sink, 2 ironing boards. Any left-over space will also be used as a community mess hall area (tables/chairs to eat on)/break room.
44. Add shipping container 4 – (Recreation Area) - My cost is $3500-$5000 for the container. This new container will also be 8ft wide, 8ft tall and 40ft long. Once we get $5000 we will order the container, and anything over the cost of the container, will go towards what the community votes on, or things like a ping pong table, pool table with sticks and balls, Xbox, dart board, corn hole, gaming computers, and more. It will have some comfortable couches, mood lighting, satellite radio.
45. Add shipping container 5 – (Men’s Shower house) - My cost is $3500-$5000 for the container. This new container will also be 8ft wide, 8ft tall and 40ft long. Once we get $5000 we will order the container, and anything over the cost of the container, will go towards creating a multiple private stall shower house. It will contain 4 private showers with bench, 2 stall toilets, 1-2 urinals, 1-2 sinks. We will have to have a plumber and electrician do work in this container and have it inspected also.
46. Add shipping container 6 – (Women’s Shower house) - My cost is $3500-$5000 for the container. This new container will also be 8ft wide, 8ft tall and 40ft long. Once we get $5000 we will order the container, and anything over the cost of the container, will go towards creating a multiple private stall shower house. It will contain 4 private showers with bench, 3 stall toilets, 2-3 sinks. We will have to have a plumber and electrician do work in this container and have it inspected also.
47. Add shipping container 7 – (Cafeteria/Mess hall) - My cost is $3500-$5000 for the container. This new container will also be 8ft wide, 8ft tall and 40ft long. Once we get $5000 we will order the container, and anything over the cost of the container, will go towards tables and chairs for mass feedings, and will also include a community coffee pot, toaster oven, toaster, 2 microwaves, and 1-3 community refrigerator/freezer.

“Quarters” or “Sleeping Quarters” refers to a private bedroom. Most quarters are basic and includes only a bed or army cot, and 1 small table and 1 chair by default. Upgrades are available to buy in the Space Station Shop. We must keep in mind the cost of army costs and different size beds when we plan sleeping quarters. The “hotel” rooms are designed for “Space Tourists” and not for the casual crew member/worker. Those guests are not here to work, they are here to relax.
48. Add shipping container 8 – (Private Quarters – Small Pod) - This new container will also be 8ft wide, 8ft tall and 40ft long. My cost is $3500-$5000 for the container. Once we get $5000 we will order the container, and anything over the cost of the container, will go towards building divider walls and creating multiple small “PODS” which are the smallest private rooms we have. Each room is approximately 4ft wide, 8ft deep, 8ft tall. Perfect size for an army cot and 1 chair, with a folding board to use as a table. In a 40ft container we will get about 8-9, depending on the width of the walls and door openings. This is entry level freedom and privacy. This is very small, but very cost efficient for those that simply want to lay down and sleep. No fancy carpet to worry about getting dirty in this pod! This is a step above a shared “barracks” sleeping area, and a step below Private Quarters – Small. You are in a room all by yourself. These rooms are small, but they are a step up from the barracks sleeping area. The cost to rent this room by the day, week or month is higher than a “barracks” area. This small room includes 1 twin bed by default. Pods are half the size of a “Small Private Quarters.”
49. Add shipping container 8 – (Private Quarters - Small) - This new container will also be 8ft wide, 8ft tall and 40ft long. My cost is $3500-$5000 for the container. Once we get $5000 we will order the container, and anything over the cost of the container, will go towards building divider walls and creating multiple small rooms, approximately 8ft x 8ft. In a 40ft container we will get about 5, depending on the width of the walls and door openings. These rooms are small, but they are a step up from the 5 or 10 army costs in a single barracks sleeping area. The cost to rent this room by the day, week or month is higher than a “barracks” area. This small room includes 1 twin bed by default. This is twice the size of a “Small Pod.”
50. Add shipping container 9 – (Private Quarters - Medium) - My cost is $3500-$5000 for the container. This new container will also be 8ft wide, 8ft tall and 40ft long. Once we get $5000 we will order the container, and anything over the cost of the container, will go towards building divider walls and creating multiple small rooms, approximately 8ft x 10ft. In a 40ft container we will get about 4, depending on the width of the walls and door openings. These rooms are small, but they are a step up from the small quarters. The cost to rent this room by the day, week or month is higher than a “barracks” and “small” quarters area. This medium room includes 1 twin bed by default.
51. Add shipping container 10 – (Private Quarters - Large) - My cost is $3500-$5000 for the container. This new container will also be 8ft wide, 8ft tall and 40ft long. Once we get $5000 we will order the container, and anything over the cost of the container, will go towards building divider walls and creating multiple small rooms, approximately 8ft x 20ft. In a 40ft container we will get about 2, depending on the width of the walls and door openings. These rooms are small, but they are a step-up from the medium quarters. The cost to rent this room by the day, week or month is higher than a “barracks,” “small,” and “medium” quarters area. This medium room includes 1 full sized bed by default, but you can request 2 twin beds.
52. Add shipping container 11 – (Greenhouse) - My cost is $3500-$5000 for the container. This new container will also be 8ft wide, 8ft tall and 40ft long. Once we get $5000 we will order the container, and anything over the cost of the container, will go towards getting the greenhouse supplies, such as creating a hydroponics bay, solar panels, voltage regulators, wiring, 55gallon plastic drums, rock, sand, gravel, potting soil, planting containers, water hose, plumbing hookup, and more.
53. Add shipping container 12 – (Barracks) - My cost is $3500-$5000 for the container. This new container will also be 8ft wide, 8ft tall and 40ft long. Once we get $5000 we will order the container, and anything over the cost of the container, will go towards setting up a barracks. This barracks will be different than Container #1 because this one will be strictly for a sleeping area. This should allow us to have approximately 12 more army cots so that 12 more crew members can sleep here.
54. Add shipping container 10 – (Hotel Room - Medium) - My cost is $3500-$5000 for the container. This new container will also be 8ft wide, 8ft tall and 40ft long. Once we get $5000 we will order the container, and anything over the cost of the container, will go towards building divider walls and creating multiple medium rooms, approximately 8ft x 20ft each. In a 40ft container we will get about 2, depending on the width of the walls and door openings. These rooms are FAMILY/GROUP RATED. This means, you pay only 1 price, for up to 4 people to stay in this room! Save lots of money! All children must be accompanied by a legal guardian and must be ID verified. These rooms are considered to be a medium sized, but hotel rooms are larger than normal quarters. A “Large Quarters” is normally 8ft x 10ft but this Medium Hotel is DOUBLE the size at 8ft wide and 20ft deep! The cost to rent this room by the day, week or month is higher than a “barracks,” “small,” “medium,” and large quarters area. This medium room includes 1 queen sized bed by default but can request 1 twin size bed at no additional cost. It is nicer quality, has a computer desk, end table, queen size bed, table and 4 chairs, tv, internet, cable tv, lamp, closet. Does not include bathroom but you can schedule to use the private shower room and use the community restrooms.
55. Add shipping container 10 – (Hotel Suite – Large) - My cost is $3500-$5000 for the container. These rooms are FAMILY/GROUP RATED. This means, you pay only 1 price, for up to 5 people to stay in this room! Save lots of money! Family OR friends! This new container will also be 8ft wide, 8ft tall and 40ft long. This Large Hotel Room is 8ft wide and 40ft long! Basically, this is one entire 40ft container all to yourself! This will give you added privacy and quiet time for you and your friends or family. This is DOUBLE the size of a Medium Hotel room and 4x as large as a Medium Quarters! Once we get $5000 we will order the container, and anything over the cost of the container, will go towards building divider walls and creating multiple rooms that you will have access to in this very spacious and private room. This room also includes a view of the outside of the space station. Depending on the time of day/night and the angle of the space station while in orbit, you may get to see a realistic view of the Sun, Moon, Mars, Earth, stars, a nebula or even the asteroid field. With this purchase, we will try to accommodate you if you request a certain view too! Simply call the front desk clerk and ask for a change of scenery or request it from the live help on our website, and within minutes, you will be teleported away to a new place simply by looking out of your window. Very romantic get-away once we get to this point of the project. All children must be accompanied by a legal guardian and must be ID verified. These rooms are LARGE sized and are a step up from the medium quarters and 2 upgrades from the barracks. The cost to rent this room by the day, week or month is higher than a “barracks,” “small,” “medium,” and large quarters area. This medium room includes 1 queen sized bed by default but can request 1 twin size bed at no additional cost. It is nicer quality, has a computer desk, end table, 1 queen size beds, 3 twin size beds (in separate room, table and 4 chairs, tv, internet, cable tv, lamp, closet. This room includes its own private shower room and restroom.

Notes

Since at this point, this is will be our own land, this will be our first main headquarters. We will be able to build anytime we want and build just about anything we want depending on the building codes (if there are any). Purchasing or renting heavy equipment is a question we will have to ask ourselves throughout this process. Some machinery we will need very rarely while others may be used almost daily. If we buy, we will have access to the machinery 24/7 and have the option to sell it or rent it out for additional funds later on. Some items that we may need to rent or buy may include bobcat/skidsteer, backhoe, front end loader, zero turn mower, mini trackhoe, large trackhoe, 16ft trailer, genie boom, scissor lift, forklift, pressure washer. In the beginning, renting will be our only option more than likely as a lot of these machines are expensive. The forklift, bobcat, mini trackhoe and genie boom are the items we will probably need to buy ourselves. This will also lower the cost of getting things done.

Imagine how it would be if we went to Mars. If you had a group of 5 people, they all would live in 1 building. Cramped and not many resources. They would have to build and design things to make their life better. When the 2nd team arrives with 5 more people, they may bring another building, so now there are 2 buildings for everyone. Instead of a 3rd team, there may be just another building delivered, now there are 3 buildings and they may use one of them for a greenhouse. This is the same thing for our project. The first "crew members" will have to rough it more than the next team. The 2nd crew will be a little bit more comfortable but the next crew after them will be even more better off. Eventually, we will accept people that does no work at all, and basically those people will be the "Space Hotel Tourists" that come for a small vacation. This cannot be achieved unless the pioneers in the beginning help to make this a reality. We will forever be grateful for those founding fathers that help with this project, that will sacrifice their personal space and comfort for the greater good of mankind.

Even if this entire project sounds silly, or maybe you lost interest because we are starting out small, if you help me complete each goal step-by-step, you will see great things. You will have a great feeling knowing that you were a part of the one-and-only space station simulation complex on the planet made for 100’s of space enthusiasts. Once we create multiple Space Station Sims across the country, and they are all designed using our containers, giant warehouses, and special effects, then it will all be worth it.
Thank you for reading my roadmap and thank you for being a Patreon!

$5000 Invest in a Space Station Room
$5,000 or more per month
This is for serious investors that want to invest into an actual storefront within our space station, or to live here for 3 months.

With a $5000 investment, you will have the unique opportunity to not only donate to our project, but to become an investor! READ VERY CAREFULLY! Your donation will help us purchase an entire shipping container that will provide at least 1 LARGE room in our Space Station Simulator Project! The container/room will be 8ft wide, 8ft tall and 40ft long! If you simply want to donate this with nothing in return, that is awesome! We may make this one long hallway, one large room, or even install walls and doors and make multiple rooms. This will help us a lot! But, since you are probably wanting to make money, you may want to read below...

You have a few options as rewards for this donation:

Option 1: Become an investor. You can help choose which room will be best to make a profit. With this $5000 donation for 1 complete section of the station, you will receive commission from our income, in proportion to the total number of containers we have at that particular Space Station Sim building for 1 year. The most that you can earn will be no more than 1.5x of your investment ($7,500 max). This commission stops after 1 year of the investment, and if you do not reach your original $5000 investment, then we will just consider the rest of it as a normal donation. Nothing promised or guaranteed. Example: Lets say we have 10 shipping containers (on average for the year) that make up the entire Space Station 4 building. Lets say we earn a total of $10,000 in a month/quarter/year, etc. Since you invested 1 container, and there are 10 total, you will receive commission of 1/10 of the $10,000 income, or $1000 commission. We retain ownership of the container at all times.

Option 2: For a $5000 donation, instead of an investor, you can choose to live long-term at the space station sim building of your choice, anywhere that we have one in the USA, within 1 year of your donation. A $5000 donation will receive a $5000 credit towards a "space station apartment, private quarters, or hotel rent" it includes 3 meals a day, and all utilities. At $1500/month that will give you 13 weeks, or about 3 months and 1 week.  We retain ownership of the container at all times.

Option 3: For a $5000 donation you can choose for us to turn a 40ft container into a private quarters, or hotel room. You can choose not to stay here, but instead get 50% of profits from anyone that stays in that container, good up to 1 year. No matter if we make it 1,2,or even 8 rooms, you will receive 50% commission on that full section, for 12 months.

You may or may not earn your $5000 back. If you don't, then consider the rest of it a normal donation. If you get more than $5000 then consider it profit. The max that you can earn is 1.5x your investment (or $7,500.)

Option 4: For a $5000 donation, you can create a store in our space station using the container that your donation helped us purchase. We retain ownership of the container at all times. You are responsible for all displays, tables, counters, etc. But, you can set up a shop in our space station and work here or hire someone you know, or one of our tenants, up to 7 days a week as a vendor and sell your own product (anything legal.) We will separate the 40ft container into 2 20ft stores. You can use one side for 6 months, 24 hours a day. We will rent the other half to someone else. If you want the full 40ft container for a store, then you can stay a total of 3 months and have both sides, or stay 6 months and pay $500/month for the 2nd side. If for some reason beyond your control we want you out, we will reimburse you $250 per month for the remaining months you are here, per 8x20 section that you paid for. You keep 100% of your sales and we do not track your sales. We will teach you how to accept crypto coins if you want since our other shops will accept crypto currency, and also Space Station Credits that we create ourselves, but this is optional. If we ask you to get out due to a hostile environment that you caused, you will forfeit the remaining months that you have. If we ask you to leave, you have 7 days to get your items out or we will put them in storage for 1 month, after that, we are not responsible. You will also be responsible for that 1 month of storage, if we must store your items, plus $50 moving charge.

Includes Discord rewards

Buy 1 40ft Space Station Section!
$6,000 or more per month
For a $6000 donation, we will be able to purchase an extra 40ft shipping container and be able to create an addition section to our Space Station Sim! This may turn into a hallway, living quarters, community room, or something else! With this donation, YOU own this section for 6 months while it is at our site! YOU get 100% of any profits that come from this section! You will be responsible for utilities if you need electric, water, internet, cable to your section. This can be worked out and it may not cost anything extra depending on your use. You can put in any type of store that you want (if we approve). We will have final decision on where it is placed within our structure.

Imagine, you can set up a store to sell food, hardware, trinkets, furniture, clothes. The list is ENDLESS! Sell space-related costumes, wigs, futuristic clothing, or just normal clothes. We may be located 1-2 hours from "civilization" out in the hot desert somewhere so imagine how many supplies our visitors and LONG-TERM TENANTS may need? You may have a great business opportunity to sell hygiene products, tools, furniture, just about anything! We will be renting out VERY BASIC living areas of all sizes. Some may be empty or only containing a bed. Tenants will want to decorate their living quarters so who is going to offer them things to buy? They may want to upgrade their army cot, to a real bed. They may want to buy a computer or laptop. Create a consignment store, hair stylist/barber, massage therapist, church, or something else you can think of?

Making this donation DOES allow you to turn part or all of your 40ft container section into a place to live! That means, you can live here or rent it out and keep all of the profit! You will be responsible for your own food, and will have to pay for utilities, internet, cable, but other than that, this allows you to live here for 6 months, or allows you to earn rent from the daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly tenants! We will collect for you and so you don't even have to be on site!

Email us and we will work with you on what you want to accomplish: [email protected]

If you create an apartment/hotel style dwelling, the tenants must apply and get approved through us first and follow all rules that we have established. No animals allowed until we establish a kennel area and pet recreation area.

This container section will be a short walk down a few hallways to the community kitchen, cafeteria, concession area, recreation area, workshop, meeting room, and other community rooms. You will have access to buy from the grocery store, other small stores, order from our website to have supplies/food delivered, or if we are near a city with local delivery you can order other food deliveries.

This will be a fun, space-themed environment with a lot of new friends. Schedule time to use the community computer to Skype with friends or family or normal research. Remember, most rooms do not include a shower, sink, toilet. There is a community public restroom, and you may schedule to take shower in the designated private shower rooms and we will have workers sanitize them after each use. There is also a community laundry room.

Goals
0% complete
This first goal is for $5000 for us to buy one, 40ft container to do testing on. There are lots of goals in the road-map listed in the "about me" section, but I think we need one container as a template.

Locally, there is a company that will deliver a 40ft container to me for about $3100. The $5000 price was worst case scenario if we purchase property far from the sellers. For now, I can get it for $3100 delivered to my current workshop and spend the rest on upgrades. I can use this first one as a template, and show pictures and videos of what I'm doing to it. If its not too expensive to move, then we can use this as one of the first containers in our actual project. But this will be very helpful to practice cutting out doors, installing windows, installing insulation, and electrical wiring, etc.
