For as long as I can remember, the one consistent thing throughout my life has been story telling!
One of my earliest childhood memories was sitting down with my parents on a cold Winter night, by the fire. With the TV turned off having not discovered video games yet, my four year old self recently learned of shadow puppets and begun cutting up pieces of paper into characters and objects, holding them up to the light of the fire and projecting on the wall. Doing voices for the characters and getting such a strong response from the crowd (my parents), I think that moment corrupted me from the very start.
From there, it spiraled into playing outside on my bike, racing around the yard side by side with Crash Bandicoot and Dr. Cortex into getting an early start learning various film techniques such as stop motion in school. This is also where I got my first chance to act on camera for a special side course when I was 10 years old and looking back on it over 10 years later, it's clear I was truly corrupted, proven by the fact I stole the show in every shot!

It was a short year after this that I first discovered YouTube and from DAY ONE in late 2007, I just knew deep down this was something I had to do. I discovered so much and so many channels that inspired me to start making... terrible, TERRIBLE videos of my own. As soon as I started to grasp the basics, it dawned on me that for the first time in my life, I had a hobby that could on day spiral into a full time job I was passionate about! I'm not talking about film making or editing, I knew in 2007-2008 that I wanted to do YouTube full time which just wasn't a thing back then. Very few channels were earning money at this time and the idea of that didn't even become a reality until around 2010. But I knew back then that it was something I just needed to do.

So fast forward almost 10 years since I discovered the platform and now I'm actually close to doing it!
With almost 3 years of full time experience doing this, always going in with the mindset of YouTube being a full time job, where a lot of smaller channels being to show cracks under the pressure as they transition into a legitimate career, I've been well prepared for that since I was a child. The projects get more and more ambitious and mean more and more to me as we move forward, I've certainly evolved over time and now know film making is my passion; the best outlet for that being YouTube!
We are close to being there but there is still a way to go yet. Now I could show you what my editing timelines look like to try and translate the amount of time and effort that goes into this, excluding monetary costs for keeping things operational and building costumes among other things for more elaborate videos where the story telling really shines through. But I think that if the effort doesn't shine through within the videos themselves, then I don't deserve any kind of "reward" for my time!

But if you think I DO deserve it, then I thank you so much!
At the current time, there are two tiers of rewards:
-Tip Jar
-Early Access

Both allow you to see weekly blog posts that will sometimes include behind the scenes photos and teasers, updates regarding upcoming content on the channel and life in general as things move forward. Early Access will grant you viewing of all Square Eyed Jak content a few days before it goes live on YouTube!
Things are forever changing and I'm looking to add more tiers and more rewards as time goes on. As for what Patreon funding goes towards, any number of things need for the channel.
For starters, I don't touch it until I need to purchase something! I'm not using this to shout myself snacks, it will add up and add up each month until it's required.

That said, Patreon money goes back into the channel in every way imaginable:
-Purchasing Games to Cover in Videos (doesn't eat into my savings as much)!
-Buying Equipment
-Keeping that Equipment up to date and Functional
-Building Costumes, Props, you name it for more Special Projects

And eventually if we reached the right goals...

-Better filming locations
-Travel to conventions to meet and interact with fans, as well as...
-Travel to better filming locations

these last few kind of work together.

So with all of that...
If you think I deserve it and you'd like to see the channel continue to grow into a sustainable source of high quality entertainment from a guy who knows what real YouTube content should promote then maybe consider donating! Square Eyed Jak will never be behind a paywall and this is entirely optional of course, but if do chose to do so, I will be eternally grateful! Thank you so much for reading and I hope you have a great fucking day. Cheers!

Tip Jar
$1 or more per month 32 patrons
I'd much prefer to use Patreon as a glorified tip jar instead of a deep grave that requires time to be taken away from making videos. However, with that in mind, by donating any amount big or small, you will gain access to:

-Special Thank You Credit at the end of every video, forever marking your place in the history of the channel.

-Patreon exclusive blogs which will mainly consist of updates on videos and life in general.
-Exclusive photos of things I'm working on (when I have any that are actually interesting.
-Access to a MONTHLY PODCAST EXCLUSIVE TO PATRONS (Including a Monthly Q&A) hosted by myself and Cal discussing whatever we fell like & answering YOUR questions!

Early Access
$5 or more per month 27 patrons
For $5 per month, you get all of the previous rewards PLUS:

-Early Access to New Videos!!!
Normally when a new video is completed, I upload it to YouTube and schedule it to my preferred upload date and time. But if you chose this reward, you'll get to watch videos EARLY & AD FREE!

Goals
$147 of $200 per month
This amount per month would allow me to keep all of my equipment up to date and functional, as well as put back into producing videos. I have a lot of larger video projects I'd love to do that actually require a budget, reaching this would allow me to create this content.
