Hi Loves!

I'm Tahirah, a multi-disciplinary literary artist living in my hometown of Washington, DC.

You know that kid who always hid themselves away in the library, won the kindergarten award for pleasure reading thirty books, and on career day quietly said they wanted to be a writer- that was me.

My passion for storytelling has only grown stronger, but pesky things like financial stability, DC's cost of living, and 100k+ in student loan debt are definitely limiting my ability to devote time to my art. I need more time! Unfortunately, any time I'm not working a day job is time I'm not earning the money needed to meet not only the survive, but also the thrive of life.

With your support, I hope to get to a place where I'm able to live sustainably while creating hybrid science fiction, horror, and fantasy sagas featuring Black non-binary leads, or literary journalism that uplifts the voices of those most impacted by systemic oppression, or goofy essays about how I fell in love with a goat loving Wisconsinite from Jim Falls.

You can see my work on my website, MelaNation Zine, Rest for Resistance, and Creative Nonfiction.

Gender is fluid, and I'm a non-binary person. When you need to use pronouns to describe me use they/them/theirs. For now, those are the pronouns that feel good to me, and most accurately acknowledge who I am.
