About

Thank you for your support. I am an archaeologist, fiber artist, and maker who is passionate about writing. An inadvertent discovery of two family diaries for sale on eBay (I googled my maiden name), a very thoughtful gift from a friend of my late brother, and a bit of a mystery (who are the diary writers?) has led to a book project. I am combining my talents in research and writing to write the story of a 15-year-old Minnesota Pioneer’s daughter living in St. Anthony, Minnesota in 1874 — a different sort of “Pioneer Girl,” a sort of “Little House on the Banks of the Mississippi.” This alternative narrative examines intersections of German-American ethnic identity, age, and gender through the 1874 diary of Augusta Mansfield.
