All the benefits of "Armchair Traveler"
PLUS after three months of patronage at this level, patrons will be eligible for a road trip consultation.
Each quarter (that's four times a year) I will draw one name from eligible patrons to help them plan a road trip of their own anywhere in the continental United States. This might include advice on destinations, routes, seasonal attractions and more... That's a $480 value! (see details in "Tamela, Take Me Away" Tier).
All the benefits in "Armchair Traveler" and "Weekend Warrior"
PLUS: Patrons who have subscribed at least seven months at this level will receive a printed book of the entire year's travel stories, mailed in January of the following year.
Itineraries include recommended destinations, festivals, restaurants, and roadside kitsch in various regions of the United States and Italy with links to tourism boards and trip planning resources.
Road Trip Fiction features a quirky and memorable character in locales that range from national parks and scenic overlooks to tourist traps and festivals—and everywhere in between. Stories in the lineup:
- Doctor-docent at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine keeps President Lincoln's medical secrets
- A guard at the federal prison in Kentucky where Dalton Trumbo served time claims he helped the black-listed screenwriter write Papillon
- Whitefish Point Lighthouse ghosts admit their role in the wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald
- Finding love at the Lewis & Clark overlook
- Restaurant owner outside FDR's Little White House discovers Russian spies
At the end of each fiction story, I will provide a digital travel guide for readers who are interested in learning more about the locale in the story or even visiting it themselves one day.
Short Stories from the Road introduce you to memorable characters I have encountered during my travels, from waitresses and park rangers, to fellow travelers and the Buffalo ZooKeeper. Sometimes the stories will be ruminations on life and other times...heck, whatever catches my fancy to share!
