About

The Show Must Go Online, created by Robert Myles, brings together actors from across the globe to perform the complete plays of William Shakespeare online, in the order they are believed to have been written. SMGO produces four plays a month, livestreamed on YouTube, every Wednesday 7pm BST.

Created in less than a week in response to Covid 19, The Show Must Go Online enables actors, theatremakers and Shakespeare lovers to stay connected and creative during these unprecedented times. Actors and theatremakers live precarious lives, often paycheck to paycheck, and their work has been all but eradicated by the pandemic.

The streams provide audiences with something that's live, that's raw, that feels spontaneous and exciting - replicating the theatre experience for a self-isolated society. Equally, they enable actors and theatremakers of all levels of experience to keep their skills sharp.

The first livestream was The Two Gentleman of Verona, introduced by Ben Crystal, and took place on Thursday 19 March, 7pm GMT. Our second show, The Taming of The Shrew went live on Thursday 26 March, 7pm GMT. The first of our Henry VI trilogy will go out on 1 April in our new slot on Wednesdays 7pm BST.

All financial support will be shared among the actors and theatremakers who have kindly volunteered their time to bring this project to life.
