By the time I was in my 30’s, I thought I would be up to my eye balls busy with a great corporate job, loving husband and 2.5 lively kids to chase around. Like many, cultural expectations, my family and the media set my goals. I was following the standard life template (i.e go to college, get a job, get married, buy a house, grow a family, increase debt, and so on).

I began dwelling on what I didn’t have. I wasn't getting any closer to the white picket fence in the slightest. All I was doing was "waiting and seeing' or as others would tell me, "just live your life, it will happen for you".

So, I did. And, guess what?

Every year looked the same as last year and the year before. My life consisted of work, working out, going out, getting drunk, and bad dates – repeat. I was also limiting myself from the things I wanted to do because I was waiting for a partner for this next new life.

No one tells you what to do if there is a sudden cultural shift of people getting married less and staying single longer.

So, I decided to do something about it. Creating The Spinning Wheel site was one of a long list of goals (100 Goal Challenge) I challenged myself to do. The plan was to get my life going somewhere. Where? How? Who knew…I just knew I had to not put my life on hold for something that may or may not ever happen.

My world soon became about exploration and experience, small or big, near or far. I learned not to feel ashamed of my single status. I would embrace where I am and where I’m going whether I get the white picket fence or not.

With this new perspective, I spend my days traveling, developing relationships, and documenting a new fulfilling life not held back by society’s expectations.

My travels would become the backdrop to the blog. Here, in my raw honesty, at times, I would challenge behaviors, learn from relationships, create new experiences and open our minds beyond what we’re supposed to do.

Thank you all of your for following me on this journey. We all know that many of us are going through the same and could use any support to reassure us that there is more to life than just marriage and kids - whether we get it or not. 'Til Next, Elisa
