About The Rusty Anvil

With your support, we can provide a cooperative outdoor education center in Berkshire County focused on uplifting people of color and LGBTQ+ communities within the environmental field and provide affordable wilderness trips and workshops, access to food and farm education, and low-income land-based housing.

The Rusty Anvil is an educational organization reconnecting people of color and LGBTQ+ communities to the medicine of nature and their relationship to place within themselves and the natural world through mindful wilderness trips and place-based skills workshops.

  • I seek to provide education to communities and organizations seeking to expand their knowledge of the environmental field and the ways people of color and LGBTQ+ communities have shaped how we study it.

  • I intend to open an outdoor education center in Pittsfield/ Central Berkshire County, Massachusetts to bring communities of color and LGBTQ+ communities back to the land through farming, wildlife conservation, and mindfulness based nature workshops and trips. This space will serve as a cooperative community space that teaches and models farming and land stewardship, an appreciation for the natural world, cooperative living, and Afro-Indigenous land-based practices.

  • I aim to remove barriers faced by people of color and LGBTQ+ communities when accessing nature and provide affordable workshops, low-income land-based housing, and opportunities to witness and become representation within the environmental field at The Rusty Anvil Wilderness Community School.
