About

Hey guys! It’s me, Brandon (ThirtyVirus) Calabrese, and this Patreon is by far the most awkward post I’ve ever had to make. I really don’t like to ask for money, but YouTube ads aren’t all that great at making it nowadays (as most of you may know). According to YouTube 200,000 views is only worth about $200, so as you can imagine it’s hard to make a living, let alone pay for college. Anyways, I’m here to talk about a crazy goal of mine!

I am a Computer Science undergraduate student at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), and I (so far) have completed 6 semesters of classes. I have another 3 to go, then I can graduate! Here is where things get a bit dicey: that racked up quite a lot of student loans. How bad is the loan situation you may ask? Well, at my projected earnings, financial aid, living costs, etc… I should have to pay about $30,000 by December 2021. Yep, that’s quite a scary number. So my goal is to keep my expenses as low as possible and my earnings as high as possible for a couple years so I can reach my goal! I hope to be able to pay off the school before I leave so I don’t get hit with interest, and have the ability to live my life free of that stress. I’ve heard horror stories of students who accepted loans from places like Sally Mae and were trapped for decades.

So how do I plan on hitting my $30,000 goal? Well, I have decided that I will not get a car until I graduate (to save on payments, insurance, gas, maintenance, etc…). I have, and will continue to, rent out small rooms (and even basements) instead of a whole apartment to have cheap rent. I try my best not to eat out and buy the cheapest food I can get at discount grocery stores (PriceRite for now). Of course I have a couple ways to make money, like an internship at a software dev company, and my YouTube channel. I even write plugins for minecraft servers sometimes to make some side cash. Unfortunately, that isn’t enough; I estimate that I will need to make at least $1,000 per month to reach my goal. And that is where the awesome people over at Patreon come in!

So what do Patrons get? Well, I have a page on my website set up to forever agnowledge those that helped me get through (so far) the most challenging time of my life. Many years in the future, as long as there is a ThirtyVirus, that page will be up to show the world who got me to where I will go in life. I promise to ALWAYS make the college fund page accessible from the main page of the website :D I will also make a video on my channel come graduation, and will personally shout out all the top donors while showing the page!

At $100 per month, I should be able to pay off roughly $2,400 towards the college loans when I graduate!
