About Tiffany Cuthrell

Hi there!

My name is Tiff. I'm a concert photographer from Waterford, MI.
Music is the thing in life that I'm most passionate about. It lifts, inspires, transforms, and (more often than I care to admit) has absolutely saved my life.
Having the ability to turn my favorite music into a picture is the greatest feeling out there.

I've been taking photos for about 8 years now, and in the last 2, fighting very hard to make it as a music photographer and writer.
It's difficult at times... In 2016, I was regularly working 40-55 hours a week at a minimum wage job, in addition to doing photography full time for free. Essentially, most times, paying to do what I love (travel: parking, gas, hotels, etc)... which is both rewarding and tough. Often times, it led to the one thing that's usually my release becoming just an extra task, and anxiety-inducing burden.

I've spent a great deal of time "paying dues". Working for free for magazines, blogs, or people that were either disrespectful, or never allowed my work to see the light of day. With a lot of hard work, what has tangible come out of 2016 is a website medium that will (hopefully) allow me to continue to do photography of my own accord. Be my own boss, get reviews up in a very quick manner.

I've been exceedingly blessed to have an army of lovely friends behind me with words of encouragement and support that have taken me from saying a few years ago, "No, I'm not a photographer, I'm not any good at this" to "Yes! I am a photographer, I am good at this, and it's what I want to do with my life".

Two years ago, I couldn't get a single photo pass into shows, this year I got a pass for Paul Simon. It's made me feel like there is nothing impossible, and given me the assured feeling that I can keep pushing on. A tiny girl with one camera, normally in a photo pit sea of older men with at least two cameras, and a billion lenses.

For quite some time, friends have been suggesting the idea of creating some kind of funding page for my work. I'm both very modest, and have a hard time EVER asking for help, so it's been a useful idea that has just never come to fruition.

Today, I decided to take the first steps in making that a reality, and trying to guarantee that I CAN keep doing photography and writing reviews in 2017.
Mainly due to financial restrictions, I have the very bare minimum of equipment. I would love to be able to purchase some more professional lenses, as any "big" shows this year, I've had to rent (at one point, putting up $1,000 to rent a lens for a day, and hoping nothing bad happened to renig the chance!)

Into video to come, absolutely, when I've got a day off (Wednesday, I'm guessing)

Thank you to anybody who even takes the time to read this, and especially anybody to pledges.
$0 of $500 per month
A goal of 500 per month would allow me to MUCH more easily pay for travel expenses to shows.
It would also afford me more time to devote to finishing the site, as well as more time to attend shows. As of now, I'm only trying for a show or two per month, and crossing my fingers I'll be able to do that much.
In addition, I could start setting aside funds toward a long lens, and aiming for "bigger" acts that such a lens is required for.
