Good Day. I see Patreon telling me about how I should "paint a compelling picture of how (you) can join (me) on this epic journey."  Well...what follows really will be an epic journey. You might want to make yourself a cup of coffee first.

I have been a Hellenic Polytheist since 2001, and have priested the Olympian God Apollo since 2005 at Pagan conferences, festivals, and online. As rich a tradition as Hellenismos is, I'm also Black American, and therefore have a tradition intersecting any other: to take diverse elements, throw them into a pot, and make jazz out of them. It does create a certain restlessness.

Here, then, is my Hellenic Polytheist Jazz.

Following my interest in Alexander the Great, I followed the adventures of that great world-conqueror to Afghanistan, then known as Gandhara, today Kandahar. where he laid the basis for a new civilization. That civilization took its characteristic turn when the Buddhist monk Nagasena met, conversed with, and converted the Indo-Greek King, Menander, leading to Greco-Buddhist syncretic civilization and religion known for its magnificent artwork and its various influences on Mahayana Buddhism.

Since I have the dubious habit of starting a Facebook Group every time I get a new idea, I started the Group Nea Gandhara, in 2011. But all this has been just foreplay. Now I can get to the point.

Since the Summer Solstice of 2016 I have been making, and following, what I call the Tetralemma Sun Mandala. It is a Mandala drawn on Facebook rather than on canvas, in sand, or some other medium. The observation of the Mandala is accomplished through observation of the Daily Quarters - Dawn, Noon, Sunset, and Midnight - such that the Tetralemma of Nagarjuna and Pyrrho is imprinted upon the Quarters, and, psychically, upon the Earth itself. In time, the Tetralemma would be imprinted into the Mind of the Age, leading humankind. if not into supreme enlightenment, then into an era in which dogmatism, in all its forms, wanes away toward obsolescence. The observation of the Mandala therefore enacts the Tetralemma as a sign of Emptiness, not unlike the A syllable, but exoteric rather than esoteric, and as an exoteric, public sign, designed for the benefit of all human beings.

This, in turn, has morphed into the Page, and practice, Boddo Hekate:

Boddo Hekate is the Buddho-Pagan invocation of the Unity of the Hellenic deities and Buddhist deities, principally Hekate, Lady of the Crossroads, and Tara, the Buddhist Goddess of Liberation; of Persephone and Kwan-Yin; of Hades, as Cthonic Zeus, and Vairocana Buddha; and beyond. As such, it builds upon historical antecedents, particularly the origination of Varapani, in allHis forms, in Herakles (Hercules); Kushan Emperor Kanishka’s invocation of (among others) Zeus, Athena, Helios, and Hermes to open the Fourth Buddhist Council, which is often considered the official beginning of Mahayana Buddhism; and the philosophy of Pyrrho of Elis, himself a priest of Cthonic Zeus, who is believed to have brought back his philosophy, and the Tetralemma, from India after traveling there with Alexander the Great’s army.
As a Praxis, Boddo Hekate is an observation of the Daily Quarters - Dawn, Noon, Sunset, and Midnight - as marked by the Tetralemma Sun Mandala, which is the work the precedes Boddo Hekate, is dedicated to Her, and which lies at the Praxis' heart, which has been drawn, almost uninterrupted, beginning on the Summer Solstice of 2016. You will see it on this page as a post at each Daily Quarter, marked thusly:

Boddo Hekate is meant to be collective work of global magic and suggestion. It is a ritual and it is a work of art. Boddo Hekate means to produce a specific evolution in the human consciousness. That evolution is two-fold and intertwining: to produce a deep sense of the absolute physical Unity between oneself and our planet, with all its inhabitants, especially each other as one human family; and, simultaneously, to induce the power to perceive a claim and its opposite each time a claim is asserted - especially by oneself.
This work means to stand as a constant counterpoint to racism, national division, gender and gender-identification oppression, and classism, and all mental formations purposed to divide humankind. The habit of Dogmatism will be made to recede from the human mind. The sense of one’s self as first and foremost One with All this Earth and All Upon This Earth, will be induced into the human mind.
This is meant to be a revolutionary working. Through its mere existence, and its existence becoming known, the intertwining shift in consciousness will be inexorably induced upon the human mind, as a Praxis where practiced, and as a Meme where not. Boddo Hekate means to be private cult and public theatre, a show running on a channel that can never be changed, on a screen that can never be turned off. We will drill this evolution into the human consciousness like a bass line - beginning with our own.
Boddo Hekate grows out of the study of the collision of traditional Hellenistic Paganism and early Buddhism that took place in the Gandhara and Kushan periods (and associated empires) from the 3rd C BCE to the 5th Century CE. This is the place and period that saw the rise of Mahayana Buddhism, with its tradition of significant Pagan and Polytheist influence. So Boddo Hekate can be said to belong to something called Buddho-Paganism, to Paganism and Druidry, to Hellenistic Polytheism, and, perhaps, to Western Buddhism and Hellenic Buddhism. It shares something with Syncretic Buddhisms like Shinbutsu-shūgō, Cao Đài , or the Order of InterBeing, as well as New Religions like Soka Gakkai, Unitarianism, the Rastafarian Church (about that Fifth Precept...) even the Society of Friends. In a Pagan context it is perhaps more Earth-centered, Wheel-centered, and Witchy than most of what falls under “Polytheism” or “reconstruction.” In a Western Buddhist context, it grows out of the discourse that includes Stephen Batchelor, Vira Avalokita, and the effort to achieve a Buddhism free of local Asian Pagan influences - but as the exact, complementary opposite of that effort. Boddo Hekate precisely embraces all those traditions, and adds the Gods of the ancient Mediterranean and all the rest of the world to their number, as They are so willing. Boddo Hekate honors all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and likewise all the kami and the Shens. All paths are welcome; no path is safe from poaching.
A very powerful Skeptical teaching, through Pyrrho and his heirs, is at the heart of this Practice, but it will tend to be Skepticism seen through eyes that already witness a Magickal world, and who wish to navigate that world; there are already Western Buddhisms being hatched for our materialist friends, though you are welcome here as well. Our Pyrrho is the Pyrrho who was priest of Zeus, and who wed his teaching to the ancient Hellenic religion of Alexander.

Goals
$0 of $800 per month
Homelessness shows many things and teaches many lessons, but it is preoccupying. Once I reach $800.00 I will have the "floor" beneath me to get a little weekly apartment, get a decent job, and survive long enough to get that first paycheck. From there, I will begin writing a book on Greco-Buddhism / Buddho-Hellenism and start a YouTube channel.

I will have learned my hard lesson about trying to make a living as a freelance commercial writer.
