About Tonya Liburd

(If you're just interested in just doing a one-time donation, you can send it to [email protected] on PayPal, or over at Ko-Fi at And thank you SO much.)

I've given this some serious thought. I've seen others put up a Patreon, and I've decided I can manage it.

My name is Tonya Liburd. Hello.

First off, thanks for being interested in my work and reading my stories.

(I have a full bibliography, including interviews, here.)

Surviving on disability's no easy feat, and so little can make the difference between me getting by for that month or not when you are on a fixed income. It can also make the difference between me deciding to eat and applying to go to Clarion or another writing course, important contests, or even to just go to local conventions in the Greater Toronto Area, like Ad Astra, to make connections and do readings, or to go to Toronto Comicon or FanExpo to try and sell anthologies I am in along with other members of the Horror Writers' Association at our booth.

I chronicle to some degree on Facebook living daily with a major mental illness, and I have received emotional support through folks like you. I hope to create a space where I can raise awareness about these issues and I plan to do more of that here, and get into the specifics. Mental health issues also feature prominently in the majority of fiction and nonfiction I produce, and you'll get to see why.

Patreon works on a subscription model--so whatever tier you pledge, you will be charged once a month for that amount. In return, you get everything listed in the rewards tier.

How do you become a Patron?
From my Patreon page, click the "become a patron" button OR your desired reward tier from the right-hand side of the page.
You'll be taken to a page where you can select a reward tier available from me or choose a dollar value with no rewards.
Click "continue" and you'll be taken to a confirmation page, where you can add a credit card or Paypal account. Since Patreon is a recurring membership, PayPal requires you add a credit or debit card to your account as a backup method.
Click "confirm and pledge" at the right-hand of the confirmation page to finalize your pledge.
That's it!

I work every day in some manner on my writing, be it making sure I'm up to date on current events, helping in Abyss & Apex slush, volunteering my time to other writing organizations, or working on my own writing--be it fiction, non-fiction, poetry or, at present, polishing my completed novel--so you can rest assured your dollars are going towards me expanding, doing and getting better in my field.

I look forward to sharing my journey with you.

Gratefully yours,
Tonya Liburd

Stretch Goal - if I can make this I can save for going to conventions, apply to Clarion and other writing courses, or apply for competitions where there may be a significant prize, without breaking my bank!
