What Is TrailRecon?

TrailRecon is a YouTube channel that my son and I started in 2015 to share our off-road adventures. We started out with the simple goal of making memories while exploring trails in Southern California. We love off-roading and making videos added to the fun. We had no idea other people would enjoy watching them too. But they did, and TrailRecon grew into the community of off-road enthusiasts that it is today.

Our TrailRecon fans let us know that sharing our adventures and experiences, our ups and downs, has helped them prepare for their own off-road adventures or decide how to outfit their own rigs. And that’s why we keep doing what we do—because we love what we do and so do our fans.

Our videos are all about getting dirty and having fun as we explore trails, review the latest off-road gear, make modifications to our Jeep, check out the upgrades our friends have made to their off-road rigs, and share the tips we’ve picked up along the way.

Some of our adventures have included:
  • The slick rocks of Moab
  • The high mountains of Colorado
  • The Rubicon Trail
  • Multi-day overland trips across the desert
  • Mojave Road
  • Sedona Arizona
  • Jeep Badge of Honor trails
  • Anza-Borrego Desert trails
  • Big Bear 4x4 trails

We’ve also shared videos that show how to install equipment and make modifications to your vehicle, as well as reviews of various gear we've used along the way, including:
  • Bumper installs
  • Overlanding gear reviews
  • Suspension upgrades
  • LED light reviews
  • Jeep builds
  • Off-road tips and tricks
  • Wheel and tire reviews
  • A roof rack install

Where Are We Going?

This year, we started adventuring out of state and exploring many of the Jeep Badge of Honor Trails. With 44 trails spread out across the U.S., we’ll journey to new destinations, do some overlanding, and tackle trails that highlight the diverse beauty of the American landscape, all the while bringing you along for the ride with our videos.

We’re also committed to making sure our videos provide you with useful and valuable information. Looking for a new trail to explore? Trying to choose a new piece of equipment for your rig? Whatever you’re looking to do, our goal is to have a library of videos that give you the information you need, because we’ve been there, done that, or installed it.

Above all, the TrailRecon YouTube channel will continue helping our fellow explorers enjoy off-roading—and hopefully provide some entertainment along the way—by sharing our adventures through our videos.

Why Patreon?

Starting a Patreon page was not a decision I made lightly and asking viewers to invest in the channel is something I take very seriously.

I love creating new content that’s valuable to you but running a YouTube channel and providing high-quality videos is a huge commitment of personal time and resources, and YouTube ad revenue does not cover all the expenses.

I currently work a full-time job in addition to running the TrailRecon YouTube channel, which is a lot like having another full-time job. And my son, who's been a huge help with video production, joined the Navy last year and is off having new adventures of his own, so I'm a man down on my two-man production crew.

For TrailRecon to continue expanding our adventures and making the channel sustainable for the long-term, I need the help of viewers like you.

If becoming a Patron isn't within your budget, that's completely okay—fans will continue to have free access to all of our videos on the TrailRecon YouTube channel.

For those who decide to become Patrons, you'll be invited to share your ideas, suggestions, and opinions that I’ll use when coming up with content for future videos.

What Will We Do with Your Support?

Your support on Patreon will be re-invested in TrailRecon and allow us to:
  • Upgrade our video and audio equipment to produce even better videos
  • Fund future adventures that take us beyond our home base in Southern California to explore new trails across North America
  • Purchase off-road gear and equipment to support our excursions

Essentially, your support will ensure we have the time and resources to continue producing high-quality videos about our off-roading experiences and help you take your own adventures to the next level.
