Hi,

I’m Angela I am 51 years old and have been dreaming about doing this ride across America since I was 11. I’ve been planning this Trek for the last three years and have a passion to join the fight against hunger for children. I've become aware of childhood hunger not being addressed in our communities in the United States and I wish to raise more awareness of the issue on the local level. I will be traveling to local food banks and social gatherings to help raise awareness of how many American children go hungry.

In the United States today alone, nearly 16 million children face hunger. Consequently, one in five children are facing greater obstacles to reaching their fullest potential. The future of America lies in our children. When hunger threatens the future of a child, it threatens the future of our nation as well. With today capabilities no child should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

Meet the Horses

Renegade is a 16 year old American Paint Horse. He stands 16 hands and weighs in at 1100 pounds. He has a very grumpy attitude, he is always ‘saying’ if I must, do you really really mean for me to do this, really. He loves kids but is always suspicious when you come out to the field, he is always wondering if you are coming out to pet him or ride him if he decides that its riding, you might have to get the grain bucket to catch him. He will be my main riding horse but will also be pulling the wagon.

Buck was rescued as a four year old from a very bad situation. He was extremely under weight. The night of his rescue he collapsed and couldn’t get back up, he was just too weak. The rescuers put him on an IV and turn him over to stop bedsores. After two days of around the clock care rescuers found a web sling and he was hoisted to his feet. After three days of being in the sling he was able to stay up on his feet. However, he was unable to get up when he laid down for another 4 days. During this time he had to be hoisted to his feet 6 times. But after a week he was on the mend. I sponsored him at this time and decided to adopt him. Buck is now 9 years old and is completely healthy. And quite chunky he was only my second choice because he is only 14’3 hands tall. Which makes him a bit smaller then Renegade.

Childhood Hunger... One Mile is Not Enough. Please help me in my dream and my mission to raise more awareness for this cause.
