You make media about...WHAT?
In 2008, I started making video reviews about toys and began hosting a weekly Transformers and toy collector podcast over on TFW2005.  Seven years later, I'm still doing those things, along with convention coverage and industry interviews.  This hobby-about-a-hobby became a passion for media-making, and in 2013 I became an accredited filmmaker and professional video editor.

And you have a Patreon campaign...WHY?
This platform is a fresh idea for producer support.  It isn't the ever-stale pre-roll/mid-roll/post-roll advertisement, viewers can opt in or out at their leisure, and any contributions are up to the contributors alone.

Most importantly, I'm going for an approach that's accountable and safe.  If I don't make a video for a month, you aren't putting patron funding into dead air.  And since you can set a monthly limit on your per-video patronage, you can still choose to set things up such that you're doing a monthly patron deal that only fires off if I put out a proper piece of media.

This will affect your output...HOW?  You will make use of patron contributions...WHERE?
This is a means of alternate support and it’s aimed at people who would like to do more than simply watch, comment on, and share the videos and podcasts I make. I'll also be doing a few more peeks-behind-the-scenes with what I do via the patron feed.

Nothing will be lost to the Patreon machine.  No video series will be gated off, no big secrets will be kept, and no cocaine will be snorted off anyone's chest (hired or otherwise).  I don't expect or demand any viewer of my stuff to take part in this Patreon thing.

During the opening period of this campaign my primary goal involves purchasing new equipment.  After doing a major audio upgrade in 2012 (adding a Zoom H4n to my kit) and moving into working with a DSLR camera in 2014 (a Canon 70D), I've been less and less satisfied with my desk lamps and convention coverage set-up.  I'd like to slowly swap out some of this well-used stuff for newer and better things: better lights, a lavalier mic, more lenses, a proper grip mount...perhaps even a little box to stick onto my handheld mics!

And we'll all see the impacts of this campaign...WHEN?
I dunno, man.  Implementing and planning as I go is one of my best and worst habits, so I'll do my best to keep you informed one way or another.

There'll be patron perk options, too, which will happen sooner than later!  What with the platform already existing, and all that.  They’re nothing huge, but hopefully a little bit of fun, and I might add more if feasible ideas come up.  For the time being, this campaign is more or less a form of 'tip jar' on the counter of my...uh...internet countertop.  The empty guitar case in front of my obnoxious street performance.

How flexible is this campaign?  Could things change?
For sure!  It's just another internet media adventure.  Let's dive in and see what happens next!

You’ll get access to a patron feed, where I'll post information about what I'm working on and what's coming up. It's a place where I might source some opinions on videos or ideas in production. There will also be early-bird notification about videos that have gone up, but have not yet been made publically viewable.

You'll get everything from the $2 tier, plus access to a variety of spur-of-the-moment ideas.  These could be anything from behind-the-scenes featurettes to test footage clips, or an occasional patron stream.  Join me in playing it by ear and seeing what happens!
