Surprises on the inside!
$300 per Chapter
If we hit this goal, I'll hire an artist to do interior illustrations as well! I'll keep them B&W to keep the book from getting too expensive.I'm thinking something very much like the Dore illustrations for Don Quixote, if I can find an artist who can manage those. Each illustration would cost around $200 and I'm thinking one every three chapters, so a total of $2000.
Heavy enough to be a weapon!
$500 per Chapter
Oh wow. You guys, wow. This means that not only do I get to publish this book, but I can do a hardcover edititon of it as well. If we unlock this, everyone who funds $25/chapter and above will get a hardcover signed by me. Everyone else will have an opportunity to buy a first edition hardcover via an exclusive link to which only backers will have access.
An advance!
$1,000 per Chapter
This is where things get real(er). By funding this much, this means I actually will be getting an advance-like income from this book. Not from a publisher, but actually from you, the reader. This is huge. This is game changing. Wow.

About

As an author and avid tea connoisseur, Ms. Caethe writes and edits in the wee hours of the morning while working a night job. That clicking noise you hear? Probably the sound of her keyboard. Probably. Unless you have spiders in your house. Large, scary spiders that stare at you while you sleep.

Ms. Caethe was introduced to speculative fiction at an early age by growing up in the Land of Enchantment. She knits and cross stitches in her spare time (hahaha funny right? Spare time... ah)

Hi! Welcome! Thank you for coming here! This is about my novel The Squire and my efforts to get it funded.

I'd like you to consider being one of the very few people who get early access to it in development. When you support my Patreon campaign, you’ll get access to not only the novel, but also a first look at the behind the scenes of making it. Depending on the level of access you choose, you’ll get chapters, notes, and regular engagement from me as I write and go through the process of completing the book. Also, this gets you in on the ground floor for the NEXT Big Thing as well! Feel free to drop out any time, but this adventure is one we can share together.

As for me, although I've been writing since I was twelve, I have only been submitting stories since 2012. In the past three years, I've published two books, two novellas and have had short stories in anthologies and magazines, including Crossed Genres (to read a fun interview they did with me, please click this link).

About the Current Project

The Squire is Don Quixote in space. No, literally, Don Quixote in Space. Unlike the original, it’s written from Sancho’s perspective. Only Sancho is Don’s niece and she’s about to get married.

When Don kidnaps Antonia and makes her be his squire, she has no idea what she’s in for. There’s a method to Don’s madness, but can she find the solution before he succumbs to the computer virus that’s been implanted in his cybernetic brain?

To give you an idea of what you're in for, I am anticipating approximately thirty chapters ranging from about 1000-5000 words each (depending on the number of scenes in each). I'm anticipating releasing a chapter a month, but please consider putting a cap on your monthly donation if it would become arduous (just in case I get excited and release more a month than I'm anticipating).

Objectives and Goals

My first objective is to share The Squire with you. The chapters will be released once a month. If goals are unlocked, other novellas and short stories will also be shared on a regular schedule.

I hope to engage you on a level that, prior to now, was impossible for many authors. One of the things we authors rarely get is direct feedback from the community during the process of writing itself and direct interaction with our readers. I would like to change that with this novel. I want to hear your feedback, your concerns, and your questions.

An overview of my financial goals with this project:
  • Fund my ability to write, publish, and edit this novel
  • Fund my time to write short fiction and novellas
  • Fund my ability to go to conventions and speak about writing, editing, and diversity as well as promote the book and others

Thank you for your time!

Regards,
Vivian
