What are the aims of WW2TV?
WW2TV is very much a one-man-band creation - Paul Woodadge, the entrepreneur behind the service is the website designer, writer, filmmaker, editor, main presenter, historian, marketer, promoter and manager of everything you see. The content will feature history not usually covered by mainstream channels. The content will be driven by historians, not executives looking for easy profit. The simple aim is to bring the battlefields to your home.
The WW2 BattlefieldsDedicated people and organisations around the globe have successfully been recording the testimonies of the WW2 veterans for years. Sadly, that era is now coming to a close. Now we need to think about recording the fields of combat before the inevitable march of time sees them lost to progress. WW2TV will preserve them on film.
Virtual TravelPaul Woodadge, the creator of WW2TV spent 2 decades guiding visitors around the Normandy battlefields. He is now bringing the battlefields to your home, wherever you may be. You will be able to run up the landing beaches, battle through hedgerows, traverse fields and towns and see what the men of WW2 saw - in full HD.
Giving a voice to HistoriansThere are many historians, authors, tour guides and arm-chair battlefield experts currently without a global voice for their work. Many TV companies will not use these passionate and knowledgeable people. WW2TV will provide a platform for these people to share their stories in interviews, films and features.
Why Patreon?No-one "owns" history. Our shared past shapes both our present and our future. Purchasing history books costs money and studying history at University can be expensive. Traveling the World and visiting battlefields is also beyond the means of many. But these days, most of the English-speaking World has access to the internet. Sharing content freely on YouTube is an easy and inclusive way to get people interested in the past. Short videos of just a few minutes about WW2 will appeal to many types of viewer. Children in schools and colleges, relatives of veterans who participated in the conflict, travel-fans, arm-chair generals and war-buffs can have access to HD content about the battles of 1939-45.
But, providing this content takes time and money. Paul Woodadge has moved on from his previous career as one of Normandy's most experieced battlefield guides to get WW2TV up and running. He has also invested thousands of $ into camera, audio and editing equipment and countless hours into preparation and planning. It's very simple, to provide this content free of charge on YouTube will rely on the support of regular patrons. If you are a history-buff who enjoys watching documentary films about warfare and history, please consider becoming a patron. It's very simple to donate to this project, and should you wish to, you can cancel at any time. If a few hundred people commit to the cost of a cup of coffee each this can happen!
You will find several options or "tiers" for support, or you can pledge an amount of your own choice. Click "Become a Patron" and then "Make a Custom Pledge."
Thank you for being a part of preserving the stories and battlefields of the Second World War.
