a2civictech is a project to build tools and use tools to create civic engagement through the appropriate use of technology. Edward Vielmetti founded the group in 2013 after going through a series of not always successful civic forays starting in 2009.

The effort includes publication of a book ("The No-Nonsense Guide to the Michigan Freedom of Information Act"), hosting of regular meetups, and attendance at a variety of public meetings. The effort is centered around Ann Arbor, Michigan but the interest extends statewide and throughout Michigan.

Your pledge will support these efforts, and will cover the necessary small incidental costs of civic engagement - things like hosting fees, meetup costs, FOIA fees, and if there's anything left over after FOIA fees then incidental meeting expenses.

Be an infrastructure hero and support a2civictech!

The project runs on several pieces of low cost software and hosting services. Your funds will support the following:
  • A Github account a2civictech which hosts code and an issue tracker (about $7/mo)
  • A Meetup account a2civictech to help plan meetings (about $12/mo)
  • Support for Arborwiki which is run through the Localwiki project (about $15/mo)
  • Domain name registrations for project domains (TBD)
At our $50/mo goal all hosting services are fully paid for and basic project expenses are covered.
