About Abe Mendes

Hi! I'm Abe Mendes, and I make analog games for tabletop and text chat. You can find my self-published work at abemendes.itch.io My projects range in size and content, but generally, I'm interested in collaborative storytelling games with vivid worlds and thoughtful perspectives.

This page is currently small in scope by intention. Any support I receive here will go directly into making more games and paying for as much art/editing/layout/other costs as I can afford. Once I've put out a few more games and have more to offer backers, this page will likely be restructured.

Currently, you'd be supporting my development of the following projects, among others:

  • Where There's Smoke, a tabletop rpg about memory, war, and traveling surreal landscapes. This game is published, but I'd love to commission more art for it.
  • STOMP SWERVE SHOUT SING, a tabletop game about the magic of playing music together. This is my take on the D&D Bard, and my ode to Appalachian folk music.
  • Wanderer's Journal, a 1-player journaling game, walking sim, and rogelike in the form of a twitterbot. It's about cave exploration, a la Hollow Knight. Written with Kit Haehnel.
  • Time Capsule: A 6-player journaling game (1 post per week per player) about history, robots, the apocalypse, and long distance community.
  • The Last Days of Solomon: A tragic fantasy play by post game for 8-ish about secrets kept, secrets revealed, and the politics of the last city in the world. Written with Jay Dragon.
  • A play-by-post game (untitled currently) about the history of a culture, recounted though its mythology. Written with Kaiya Lewis-Marlow.
  • A small LARP project, written with Jay Dragon. Think Addams Family family reunion.
