About About That. (with Marga Ortigas)

Hi everyone! Thanks for coming to my Patreon page. I am a long time journalist (some call it "old school", or "legacy" - whatever that means!) I prefer "veteran", if time spent "in service" is to be a reference point. Anyway, I worked in TV news for almost 30 years. Covered stories across the world for 2 of the largest international networks. Then, a few years ago, I decided to step back from all that and slow down. To take a breath. And live life without a camera in between.

In my newfound free time, I started a podcast - just for the heck of it. It was a new exercise (especially as it involved only audio) and allowed me to keep up my editing skills. In the beginning, we tackled "lighter" topics that dealt with people "in transition" - for all sorts of reasons. It was helpful to me, as I was going through changes in my own life, and I wanted to share it with others.

My own transition from news reporter to 'no-longer-a-news-reporter' has not been as easy as I had expected. It's hard to shed an identity when you've carried it for most of your life. But things do evolve, and we all move on.

Ultimately, however, we are who we are. And I have always been interested in the wider world around me. I may have stepped back from the maddening 24-hour news cycle, but life itself doesn't really slow down. So, I'm ready to 'chat' again. And it's time for this podcast to evolve, too. We'll still have the occasional 'light' conversations, but you will find more episodes featuring insightful people sharing their fascinating perspectives on the wider world. My aim is to make what might seem too cerebral more accessible for us all.

Any support you can offer is greatly appreciated.
