Waddup y’all,

Thanks for stopping by the Patreon page of Adam Coleman (aka Scott Lane). When I first launched the Tru-ID Podcast I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was an aspiring Christian apologist with a shoe string budget, some studio equipment left over from back when I used to do gospel rap, and a desire to see lives impacted by the gospel.

About 3 years before launching the Tru-ID Podcast I’d had a rediscovery of apologetics as I was seeking ways to deepen my walk with God. I came to realize how valuable Christian apologetics can be in the life of the believer; particularly in terms of equipping us to share and defend the gospel as well as navigating difficulties in our lives.

As I became increasingly active in engaging unbelievers with the gospel through Christian apologetics, I realized that there is a wide variety of questions and objections to Christianity; some of which had gone largely unaddressed by the apologetics community. I found it fairly easy to access apologetics materials on responding to atheists, arguments for God existence, evidence for the historicity of the Bible, etc. However, for the context I found myself ministering in, I was being faced with objections to the Faith that were of a different sort.

People were hitting me with:

“Christianity is the white man’s religion”

“If it wasn’t for Christianity being forced on our ancestors you wouldn’t be a Christian.”

“You worship white Jesus.”

“Where was Jesus during slavery?”

“Jesus and the Bible are plagiarized from Egyptian or pagan myths.”

“Instead of worshipping the white man’s God of the Bible, you should practice the religion of your ancestors.”

It seemed like everywhere I turned I was encountering people for whom these kinds of questions were major stumbling blocks preventing them from accepting or continuing in the gospel. I wasn’t aware of any apologetics resources that were addressing these kinds of issues, which forced me to embark on a journey of studying for myself and finding answers. The Tru-ID Podcast came about as a result of my journey. I simply couldn’t sit on the sidelines while people were being drawn away from Christ while there are solid answers and responses these types of questions, which seem to be gaining traction among people of African descent, especially in the western world.

With that being said, Adam Coleman is not a one trick pony. When I started down this path jmy goal wasn’t to become “the black apologist” LOL. I believe that Christians should be well-rounded when it comes to apologetics such that we can engage and provide answers for unbelievers with various types of concerns.

My goal is to provide content that helps Christians to not only resolve the questions and doubts they have but also to have answers such that they are able to approach that family member or friend who grapples with these things.

I’m excited to say that the show has come a long way from it just being a guy with a laptop and spare time on his hands. We’ve come to the point that God is touching people through the podcast such that we are prompted to improve our product and expand the range of ministry resources we put out.

We are looking to improve our audio and video capabilities with better equipment as well as employing more engaging means of reaching others. The “field” of “urban” apologetics is still relatively young and many of the places inviting me to speak at their churches or events don’t have the budget to bring me in. On some occasions I’ve been able to teach at those events at my own cost and seen people blessed and relieved as they attend our sessions in which we debunk the claim that Christianity is the white man’s religion and provide evidence that Christianity is indeed true. However, as my family size and number of opportunities has increased this has become more difficult to do.
Improving, expanding, and making what we do not accessible will require assistance from our patrons. We need your support!!!

For anyone who has been riding with us thus far I want to say thank you! As we get bigger, better, and more impactful for the Kingdom I ask that you pray for us and prayerfully consider donating monthey as a Tru-ID patron!!!”
