Hi, I'm Chris! I've been a lifelong gamer but make my living in film. I've been doing YouTube for nearly a decade at this point, and as I've grown as an artist I've pushed my content to tackle a wider variety of topics with greater purpose. Over the last year or so, the purpose of this channel really came into focus. I want to encourage empathy and eliminate shame--and have fun along the way.

The content we're currently focusing on consists of a few different series:

  • The 'Finding Film' series is a series of pseudo-video essays (they're all unscripted and conversational) where me or someone I know goes in depth on a film that means a lot to them, and explores the sentimental value media has in our lives rather than using some sort of objective scale.

  • 'Max vs. PC' is a series where I guide my roommate, Maxwel, through historically significant video games and teach him about the medium. It has a comedic bent, but focuses on how sophisticated game design really is and the difference in perspective between a newcomer and someone immersed in video game culture.

  • We're starting a series of Virtual Reality videos led by Miles; while we haven't settled on a name yet, the goal is to highlight the strides being made in VR gaming as it works through its infancy, and showcase promising developers that may not be getting much attention yet.
On top of these series, we also do several one-off videos of various styles, from the "Life is Strange" blind review/short film hybrid to the "Todd Howard ASMR" monstrosity. I love to experiment, and we have a lot of ideas from both a cinematic and musical perspective that we're excited to explore.

While I'm the primary driving force behind these videos, I've been opening Adustus up as a more collaborative effort, and involving more of the people I know in its content. This has done a great deal for increasing the scope of our projects, but it's also increased one of the main issues I've had with the channel: a lot of the stuff we make takes a lot of time and money.

I don't like the idea of monetizing content on YouTube and putting ads on my videos (especially seeing what those ads have been lately) but I can't deny that the costs of the equipment and props put a strain on production. If you enjoy any of the things we make and want to support it financially, it would be incredible. In turn, I want to focus on rewards that make our supporters a part of the creative process. I've always loved making these videos because of the community interaction, and I'd love to discuss the behind-the-scenes workings with those who choose to support.

I love making these videos when I have the time, and they'll happen no matter what. Any help we receive would merely make those videos come faster and with higher quality, and would make us immensely grateful.
