I'm an actor/filmmaker with a strong interest in games as an artistic medium; I love learning more about design and the way games can impact their players, and in my free time between projects I make videos to try and communicate it. Primarily, though, I'm a film guy. That's the career I'm pursuing, and I want to utilize those skills in my YouTube content. Unfortunately, that requires equipment; I've been slowly building an arsenal of better gear for my YouTube videos, but it's spendy. Since these videos are a hobby and not a source of income (I don't plan on ever monetizing them) buying all of the equipment has been a very slow process.

I want my videos to provide insight into why games do or don't work, with the aid of cinematic, comedic allegories and scenes. Any assistance I could get would initially go towards getting better sound equipment (to allow clean shooting in the subway, park, etc.) and whatever props we would need for these scenes. For example, there's a pair of videos on both L.A. Noire and Red Dead Redemption planned that would be heavy genre parodies. There's also a film noir I want to make that combines Donkey Kong and Heavy Rain. To make them as entertaining and effective as possible, we would need costume pieces and props.

I love making these videos when I have the time, and they'll happen no matter what. Any help we receive would merely make those videos come faster and with higher quality, and would make us immensely grateful.

Behind the scenes game discussions! You'll get access to a private streaming group where we'll talk about games we're making videos on; take part in the discussion and maybe have an impact on the final video itself by bringing up points we wouldn't have thought about, and get a more thorough explanation of our reasoning behind our opinions. Footage during that time will be either us playing the game in question, or potentially even editing the episode we're talking about.

I've found some fairly good sound equipment (a shotgun mic, boom pole, and capture board) that I can get cheap. It wouldn't be the absolute best, of course, but it would allow me to make much more ambitious projects; I could shoot on the subway without too many sound concerns, or get more ambitious with outdoor shoots as I wouldn't have to rely on the on-camera mic. Although all of the Patreon money will go towards equipment, this equipment that would drastically change the way I can make my videos.
