New video camera
After 7 years my camcorder is on its last legs - I want to upgrade to something that will give better quality low light footage and let me do slow motion shots.

What is Patreon?
Patreon is a way for my fans to support me directly and ensure that I can afford to keep the channel and website running. It's kind of like an ongoing Kickstarter campaign. "Patrons" pledge an amount of money per video. You get to decide how much, but the minimum is $1 per video. Every time I post a new video to Patreon, your credit card gets charged, but never more than the monthly limit you set. This creates an incentive for me to make videos as often as possible.
So... wait, are you abandoning Youtube in favor of paid subscriptions?
No! It is my goal to keep my channel free for viewers who cannot afford to contribute. "Patrons" get incentives though, such as early access to my videos 2 weeks before everyone else. Plus you can get access to things like outtakes, giveaways, and I will interact with you over Patreon and we can talk about stuff like what videos you would like to see next. Check out the incentives to see what I've got to offer.
Do I have to pay in US dollars?
You can pay with any currency you want! Patreon.com is located in the U.S. so everything is shown in dollars, but your currency will be automatically converted.
What if you start releasing lots of crappy videos to take advantage of the system?
Don't worry, I'm not going to make you pay money for 10 second clips of burning resistors. I am looking to gain long term Patrons here, and the best way to do that is to continually release content that is worth people's time and money. If at any point you feel you are not getting your money's worth you can cancel your subscription. Random videos of resistors burning will just be uploaded to the main channel free for all.
