A (brief) History of Me

I am a long-time writer, and professional editor. I write science fiction and fantasy for my personal amusement. I hope that anyone who enjoys my work also sees the value in its creation, and would support its creation into something grander.

A History of Space Colonisation

My flagship serial, 'AHoSC' began in 2016 as a tale of love and hardship and refugees from Old Earth to Durre Menthor (Tau Ceti). It had high hopes, but it was mired by my personal circumstances. What essentially began as a series full of optimism about space travel and dirty politics from old Earth succumbed to a lack of direction instigated by the imminent failure of two very large projects I was involved in.

Since then, times have moved on, and so have I. But in the back of my mind, 'A History of Space Colonisation' lives on. I wanted it to grow to epic proportions, an homage to the greatest science fiction minds that have ever lived, and a reflection of our hopes and desires for space travel and Martian - and eventually, interstellar - colonisation. I want to explore the tension and conflict between the techno-optimists and bio-pessimists, those who believe technology is the Second Coming of the Messiah, and those who believe we should remain tethered to our lonely blue world.

The reboot of 'A History of Space Colonisation' begins in an imagined near future, one where a tiny space agency in Australia becomes intertwined with the fates of the largest space agencies and private space companies on the planet. We explore the urbanisation of our inner space, and the industrialisation of the moon. We see the rise of the first competing Martian colonies, and the plans are drawn for Jovian, Saturnian, and Belt-born colonies. There are rumours of viable solutions to Venusian problems.

But, in this flurry of colonisation, there are deep grumblings on Earth. The ideas of Nationalism and Globalisation meet face-to-face, street battles are fought, and regimes begin to change. There is hope in the stars, but on Earth, everything but open warfare is destabilising societies around the world. Can humanity break away from its cradle, or will it forever be mired in the myths and legends of ancients?
