S. P. Cooper holds a Ph.D. in English Literary and Cultural Studies. His research is in Arthurian literature, with a focus on literary and cultural representations of chivalry and its relation to kingship and the Church. Most significant to his work have been Malory’s Le Morte Darthur and Tennyson’s Idylls of the King, along with medieval Arthurian sources including the works of Gildas, Nennius, Geoffrey of Monmouth, and the Lancelot-Grail cycle. Professor Cooper is also an accomplished pianist and organist. Formerly employed by the Archdiocese of Detroit, he also taught at regional academies. His interests include classical music and Test Cricket.
