A Kid Explains History is dedicated to making history accessible for kids and adults alike. 11 year-old Mr. Q chooses the subject he wants to explore and helps his dad research and write the script for each 3 1/2 to 4 minute YouTube video. Using green screen technology, a few lights and an iPhone, Mr. Q hosts each clip in front of entertaining visuals, bringing the subjects to life.

With the footage in the can, it is up to dad to edit everything together. The whole process is time consuming and can eat into regular, bill-paying work hours, so any pledges A Kid Explains History can get from patrons will help facilitate future efforts. Up until now, videos have been posted every month or so, but with your support we would like to increase our output. For instance, we have recently launched a new series based on the Common Core States Standards Initiative Curriculum. Teachers from around the country have been in touch to tell us how much their students enjoy the videos when they show them in class.
