I GIVE THANKS TO the iGiveTrees supporters who've been helping me to replant an endangered rainforest and sent me to three climate change conferences with my art!

I'm a Brazilian American botanical artist with a lifelong passion for plants, pollinators and rainforests. For the last 10 years I lay my brushes down, to focus on telling stories of the rainforest where I was born – it's 93% gone – and to raise money to replant trees there.

While I'm still passionate about both tree planting and botanical art, it has evolved into environmental art, so that I can tell larger stories of the habitat and pollinators of our rainforest, as well as invite others to make public declarations of commitment to regenerate the planet's systems. And, I've become a bit of a pollinator myself, carrying the pollen of relationships from one continent to another!

In 2016 the iGiveTrees tree planting project received recognition from the French Ministry of Environment, Energy and the Sea and I was invited to participate in COP22, the climate change conference in Marrakesh. I then created a fabric banner to commemorate the first gathering of the 4per1000 Consortium that was signed by many global representatives. Pictured with me is Stéphanne LeFoll, the former French Minister of Agriculture, who is truly an inspired leader.

In 2017 I participated in COP23 in partnership with Project Drawdown, hosted by the French OpenTeam. Inspired by their dedication to solutions, I created a new banner as a collaborative collage, incorporating the work of another photographer and digital artist, while honoring the small organizations and projects that do the field work.

And I produced a side-event for the Drawdown representatives who were present at COP23, to share some of their research projects. The fabric banner was displayed and signed at the event, and will travel to future events that highlight their work.

In 2018 I created a new banner that made its debut a the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco, and will travel with me to COP24 in Poland.

Your contributions, support not only my creativity, but also to my ability to participate in conferences where my art is being used. And I will offer significant discounts to people who are my monthly sustainers.

You can learn more about my work on www.alanalea.com.

P.S. You might enjoy seeing some of the banners created for interfaith and peace events that will become available as prayer flags again soon...

I'm seeking patronage of $2,500 a month, to allow me to produce new environmental prayer flags and cover my travel expenses to share them at international conferences. In the last year I've traveled between the USA, UK, Africa and Europe to participate in climate change conferences, where my work has been used, pro-bono. In the past, I did the same for interfaith and peace organizations. I'd like to continue to offer the art without charge to the causes, and attend the events where showing it beautifies stages and brings attention to the message.
