My Story

I am a disabled queer writer, student, artist, and activist in need of relief from an unstable financial and family situation. I grew up in Missoula, Montana, where I went to public school until I was accepted for a full scholarship at Phillips Academy, a boarding school in Andover, Massachusetts.

There I was thrust into a world of wealth, power, and academia, which opened my eyes to the systems which organize our world and gave me the tools to think and write at a high intellectual level but unfortunately left me with anxiety, depression, trauma and a smattering of low grades on my transcript.

I was accepted as a Quaker Fellow at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, where I worked at the student newspaper and planned to double-major in Peace and Global Studies and Computer Science, but due to my illnesses was forced to take a medical leave of absence.

I am now back in Missoula, where I am taking a few classes in the History, Media Arts, Computer Science, Linguistics, and Arabic programs. I am also working part-time at the University of Montana's Mansfield Library, which is a wonderful and intellectually rewarding work environment but sadly just doesn't pay enough to cover all of my expenses. On top of that, I volunteer at the Roxy Theater and spend a lot of time reading history, theory, and novels on my own.

What I Do

I use my unique perspectives to create complex narratives and develop context for you to better understand our world. Writing is my primary medium but I also work in photography, film, visual art, and a dabbling of computer programming. My primary interest is in critical theory, a term which can simultaneously be used to describe my attempts to expose, explain, and explore the world's sociopolitical structures as well as the consumption and exegesis of literature, film, and other media.

In simpler words, I write essays incorporating journalism, sociology, philosophy, theology, and literary criticism, as well as producing my own poetry, stories, photos, films, and artworks. To find a small sampling of my work through the years, you can scroll through my website alexanderlik.net.

My experience in creative writing, journalism, academia, linguistics, and media production has taught me a lot about writing and editing, skills which I'd love to use if you need. At a certain patronage tier, you can have me write a piece or look at any scripts, poems, essays, articles, or technical manuals and I can give both technical and creative feedback!

Where Your Money Goes

Your money goes to help me pay rent, eat food, and buy medications. You're helping me survive, plain and simple. If I am able to earn enough money to cover all the basics, you'll be the first to know and I will develop further ways to make your patronage worthwhile, such as the production and hosting costs for my forthcoming projects described above. I also try to redistribute in turn as much as I can, especially when I have money left over. While the majority of the resources I give away go to individual fundraisers or friends in need, I also try to donate to other Patreon accounts; you should be able to see who I'm currently supporting on my profile!

Why You Should Support Me

It's not my place to say whether or not your money ought to be sent to me. However, I am in desperate need of financial support and anything you can do to help would be immensely appreciated. In return I will offer whatever I can, whether it's my academic and creative projects or just my feedback, support, or friendship.

If you would like to give a one-time donation, or don't want to use Patreon, you can also contribute to me via my Square Cash page, buy something on my Amazon wish list, or just say hi. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please feel free to send me an email. Thank you so much for all your love and support!

Bonus Rewards!

There are so many wonderful people out there and supporting them all can be really hard. Because I am already sending some of my Patreon earnings right back to other creators I have decided to formally contribute a portion of my earnings at every reward tier to other deserving Patreon accounts. This also allows me to promote other Patreon campaigns right on my profile; while Patreon does not publicly display the amount of money I give to other Patreon accounts, you should be able to see which Patreon accounts I contribute to and would be happy to answer any questions you might have. If there is a particular person you would like me to know about and contribute to, please let me know or list it in the patron information form.
