All the Saints Theater Company is a Richmond based political puppet theater who uses paper-mache masks and larger than life puppets as a form of activism and community building.  All the Saints is celebrating 13 years with this year's Halloween Parade.  Lily Lamberta, Director and master puppeteer founded the Annual Halloween Parade in 2006.   In addition to parades, All the Saints Theater Company produces original shows, creative design and puppet lend to protests, music videos, and offers workshops in puppet making and activism.  We host Spaghetti dinners as a means to feed our community with experimental theater, dance, world famous puppetry, music, and food.  We believe a rich collaborative community is necessary for a true fusion of art and activism.  The cabaret style and food sharing nature of the Spaghetti Dinners serves this purpose.
Lily Lamberta is a Richmond born sculptor, performer, dancer, and puppeteer who met Bread & Puppet Theater in the weeks soon after September 11th, 2001.  She was thrilled to marry her classical training as a performer with radical formats of street theater and ancient forms of storytelling such as puppetry.   She apprenticed with Bread & Puppet in 2002, and continued volunteering with them until she joined the full time touring company in 2004.  During this time, she toured the states including much of rural North America, Italy, Spain, Canada, and Venezuela.  She performed, taught shows as well as represented Bread & Puppet Theater at massive protests against the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Lily considers Bread & Puppet theater as the radical puppetry mothership for all political puppetry street actions, public protest theater, and other pageant style political puppetry.   Lily uses paper-mache, and other affordable materials to denounce war, inequality, and the capitalist exploitation of workers, migrants, and our environment.  Social-justice, art, and activism motivates Lily in her diligent continuation of her professional commitment with her creative and resourceful work.
Lily returned to Richmond in 2006 to start All the Saints Theater Company with Richmond's First Halloween Parade.  She self-taught herself a style of armature building using cardboard strips to build a basket-like base that then gets paper-mached.  Lily believes the art of building huge and strong puppets out of cardboard, cornstarch, and bamboo is radical in nature because it is the ultimate cheap art which is enjoyed mostly in the streets by all and for free.  What is not cheap about this process is the amount of strength, ingenuity, and time these puppets take to create.  Lily continues to work as staff with Bread & Puppet in Glover, VT in the Summer, and tours with them annually.  The rest of the year she resides in Southside Richmond building puppets in her Puppet Barn, and some other All the Saint Theater Company annexed studio spaces, as we truly expand with the needs of the project.   Lily is available to bring her puppets and building skills to your community to build large street actions, parades or marches, and performances.  She has gone as far as St. Thomas to work with a group of 15 youth to build a show and parade with Carnival-Style puppetry in a 2 week intensive workshop.
Lily is passionate about Planet Earth and water politics, and the anti-pipeline movement in Virginia and globally.  In 2018, her anti-pipeline sculpture installation "Our Waters Will Rise" was exhibited in "Declaration" at Richmond's Institute for Contemporary Art.  Politically, Lily is an anti-fascist, anti-capitalist, and anti-war queer activist.  She is a mother, which inspires her daily as an artist.  Lily supports her heart and her work as an artist as a massage therapist and herbalist.  She believes art is a critical part of the healing arts and the marriage between the two worlds for her is effortless. She is thankful for the opportunity to share her passions, skills, and intent with the Richmond community, and hopes to continue the work that she began 13 years ago.
