If you like the work I do and want to support it, this is all I ask for. For the price of a beer a month you can have the nice feeling that you're supporting the work I do.

It's unlikely that I'll be able to give you anything extra for supporting my work because that doesn't seem to be possible, but if things change and I can give up some work for the websites, then you'll be the first to benefit.

About Daniel Ivery

Who am I?

My name is Daniel Ivery, and I am an online writer. I've been writing online about my football club Birmingham City and it's ownership travails since 2011. I have two websites - Often Partisan (which I retired in 2016) and almajir.net, and a book co-written with top Hong Kong solicitor Will Giles about the club. I survived five legal threats and was eventually a key part in hated club "acting chairman" Peter Pannu being forced out.

Why Patreon?

I'm already doing a lot of things that Patreon creators do. I have a website, social media accounts, a mailing list and I've just started a vlog.

Once upon a time, I thought I could ask people to help fund the investigations I do and turn what is in reality an online hobby into a job. I don't think this is possible; simply because I don't think I have the right kind of content that can be offered to patrons only.

I took my Patreon page offline when I realised my depression was holding me back and I wasn't giving anybody anything of value. I've thought about it a lot and now I've figured out what I would like and how it could work.

Simply - if you like the work I do, and want to help support it then support this Patreon. I'll use the money to buy equipment, or to pay for information from online databases, or any of the hundred little costs that running my websites incur. There won't be any additional perks to being a patron, just that warm fuzzy feeling that you're supporting someone who you like.

Okay, here's the truth. I'll be happy if I can make just this goal. As much as I want to push almajir.net to be my full time vocation, I know it's almost certainly not going to happen.

$50 a month however proves to me that there is a reason for doing this and people appreciate it with more than just words.
