About

Hello! I am Amanda Grace.

I am a writer and performer, singer and songwriter, longtime fashion model and actress, as well as a chef and activist for all things food-related. I am also an kundalini yoga and meditation practitioner, and regularly study with some of the top teachers in the world.

The focus of my life so far has been the pursuit of the mastery of an array of different disciplines. If you are someone who loves a label, they can mostly all be placed into three categories; words, music and food. If you get to the heart of it, they all share a common thread, and that thread is storytelling. More on that later.

Being what some might call a polymath, I have previously tended to keep my separate creative expressions, well, separate. The world loves their boxes. I am excited to be able to utilise this amazing platform to share with you here a sampling of all of my passions, and bring together everything I do and love, all in one place.

What you can expect to experience on the various tiers when you support my Patreon?

Stories, essays, poems, songs, excerpts from my upcoming book, random musings, photos, video footage, new songs in progress, sneak previews, old photos, videos and my musical recordings from the archives of the over six albums I've recorded, recipes, live demos on Zoom, occasional packages of baked goods or merch or some other surprise in your mailbox, cookbook previews, print at home PDFs, private and group cooking classes, livestreams, discounts or credits on my chef website, playlists, live stories, maybe some yoga and meditation instruction, whatever takes my fancy.

I have just launched a series of cooking workshops and for a limited time, you will receive access to these workshops if you join me here on Patreon. More or less access will be granted depending on the tier to which you subscribe. Access to part one of the workshop on the $9 tier, part one & two of the workshop on the $27 tier, and the whole three part workshop on the $99 tier.

Be the hit of the summer BBQ or the camping trail and elevate your outdoor cooking skills.
Host an indoor BBQ and wow your family without ever stepping outside.
Know how to feed yourself and your loved ones in style should you ever have to rely on your survival skills.
Having lived for a year and a half with no stove, Chef Amanda Grace really learned how to cook well on a camping stove and a BBQ.
Amanda Grace would love to share her love of outdoor cooking with you, as well as three separate delectable summertime menus. All menus will feature both carnivorous and plant-based options.
Workshop includes live, online cooking class (replay available), as well as pdf downloads with menus with secret recipes, shopping lists and instructions.
Each part of the series contains a full menu which will be demonstrated during the online class.

Why am I here and what will your support help to facilitate?

Some people may know me as Chef Amanda Grace, as I have been cooking professionally since 2008. What may come as a surprise to those people is that I began cooking to put myself through writing school. I started studying humanities, english literature and creative writing at the University of London in 2008. Around that time I was penning a popular blog in London. Some people may recall me from one of my bands. I been writing and singing since my time began and have recorded six albums.

I have also been working for almost 500 years on a semi-autobiographical tragicomedy called Things That Happened When I Was Beautiful. This book was originally intended as a collection of essays and vignettes, partly based on my experiences of being an international teenage fashion model, my travels and misadventures.

The book has evolved into having an overarching narrative story. Its a hero's journey, rags-to-riches-to-rags-to-figuring-out-what-is really important in this life, a coming-of-age quest for a home, true love, discovery, experience and the meaning of life. The book deals with themes such as love, self-love, addiction, confidence, compassion, friendship, romance, courage and perseverance, disillusionment and dreams, displacement and migration, loneliness and isolation, heartbreak, facing darkness, overcoming fear, identity crisis, loss of innocence, self-reliance, will to survive, the power of youth, and the temporary nature of physical beauty, darkness and light, desire to escape, emptiness of attaining false dreams, coming from humble beginnings, having it all and losing it, overcoming fear, blind optimism, spirituality, character, circle of life. It is a story about what it takes to blossom into someone truly beautiful, through and through, in our youth obsessed society which places so much importance on superficial, external beauty. It is a love story, but ultimately the hero realises that the big, true love story of her life is with herself, this marriage forged by finally learning to love herself completely.

The time has come to complete this book, as I truly believe that I have had experiences and hold a perspective which garners me uniquely qualified to deliver this message that the world needs more than ever. I would love your support. With the lockdown in full effect, this is the perfect time to buckle down and focus on finally finish this book. Your patronage will allow me the freedom of mind to focus on the task at hand.

Music is the other great love of my life and now that I have set up home in California, I hope to finally be able to create some music of which I am proud enough to release properly. Now as we all sit at home and the days spill out before us, like little stories which are part of a book with no known ending at present, having the headspace to create is majorly inspiring me to start making music again in earnest. The quiet solitude is one of the silver linings of this uncertain moment. If we do not make any noise then we might get to see, from this place of quiet, music sometimes springs from the ether. Your support will help me to be able to sit with these moments and be quiet and still enough to give the muse the chance to emerge. The world has gone weird, time to get weirder. Somebody hand me a guitar!

Finally, my love for food and cooking is currently being expressed in a number of ways. I am working on an instructional food book called, The Art of Cooking and Eating. I share my knowledge through online cooking classes and workshops. I have recently been featured doing a food demonstration at the virtual Camp Grace, hosted by Guru Jagat and her RaMa Institute.  More about my food stuff on chefamandagrace.com

Why do you care enough to push the button?

You love music, art, literature, storytelling, food and creativity. You are intelligent enough to understand Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, and want to live in a world where artists are in a position to create art. You delight in the fact that there has been a symbiotic relationship between artists and their patrons going back further in time than Giovanni di Bicci de Medici of Florence. You want to learn how to create the world's best banana bread. You are bored and tired of scrolling social media and are in search of more challenging and compelling content. You want to feel good about yourself as you now discover that your life is almost meaningless without seeing your reflection in other people, now that you cannot go outside and distract yourself with mindless consumerism. You are inspired by creative weirdos and want to help empower them because you realise that, without them, the world would be a much duller place. You secretly suspect that artists are like psychedelic drugs with regards to pushing the envelope of the development of human consciousness. You are sexy and enlightened, or want to become sexy and enlightened. In the immortal words of Donna Summer, 'You love to love me, baby.'

Thank you in advance for your love and support.
