About AM Dandy

"Alessandro "AM Dandy" Meynardi is an Italian guitarist and composer based in Boston (MA), USA.

He was born in Mondovì, a small village in North West Italy.
At nine years old he picked up his first guitar, after piano and cello, but he started his music instruction at the Conservatory "Ghedini" (Cuneo) and the Academy of Modern Music in Turin few years later.
He is currently attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Some of his notable mentors and unbelievable inspirations have been Mick Goodrick; Daniele Gottardo; David Tronzo; Tim Miller; Gianluca Ferro and Marco Roagna.
Strongly influenced by iconic artists such as Steve Vai; Frank Zappa; Pat Metheny; Guthrie Govan and some others, he declares that the big range of music styles inside his playing is the directed consequence of this variegated background."

This is a part of the short Bio from my Official Web Site (www.amdandy.com). Now You know my story until now day, but let me tell You a couple of words about what I do, how I do it and everything behind.
I come from a Beautiful country, Italy, I actually have even a couple of tattoos about it! A place of Art, where paradoxically Art itself is heavily underestimated. Preservation of ancient constructions or even whole cities (see Pompei) has huge costs, Art history in school is barely taught and live music really often not paid. This last point, the closest to my life, I guess it's a bad habit anywhere in the world. Promoting your own art became easier thanks to the socials, true, but the same socials, or anyway many web platforms, are the same that "distribute" your creations for free. Overall, being an emergent artist today is really hard and the cost of your recordings, of your gigs, your instruction (If you go to College, like I do) and what's all around, are 99,9% of the times really hard to afford.

I decided few years ago with a determinant help from my parents to get some machines that could allow me at least to bypass the recording fees. We invested a pretty high amount of money getting audio interfaces, microphones, softwares, multi effects, etc... Normally a recording session can be (depending on many factors such as the size of the projects; the studio you are recording in; all the technical characteristics related to the specific genre/genres you play in the project; the quality standard that usually has to flow in between very good and excellent and so on) thousands of dollars. But it's just the beginning. You have to mix those tracks, to master them and, finally, to release them. But then you have to realize a (payed) promotion plan in some way otherwise very few people are gonna get the chance to listen to them. At the end it's tremendously rare to pay a good production less than 6 thousands dollars.
Then the gigs: rarely payed and when this happens, often underpaid; transportation costs (imagine, for example, I play with 5 people!); the rehearsals room fees (that in my case at the moment are included in my College fees), etc...

Why Patreon?
I decided to apply to Patreon because I deeply think this is the future of Music Industry. My goal in here is to find Loyal People that believe and appreciate what I do and that can support me in doing it, better day by day. I dedicate my life to that, because I immensely love what I do, despite the costs of it.
With Your Help I will be able to produce faster and better.  I just finished to produce my first, beloved solo album, "Secret Garden". It took me almost three years. In the meanwhile I wrote material for other two solo albums and for two other projects. One of them, "Thunderpets", is about to be recorded in these days (mid February).
Your Help will allow us to find more gigs or even tours that many times have to be cancelled because of the monstrous transportation costs.
With Your Help we will be able to create a Group of People that share common passion for music, help each other to spread out artistic contents and participate in first row to the birth of new art. In the end, a Group of People that honorably respect, sustain and improve today's Music and Art.

                                                             What's the Benefit

Apart from being determinant in the birth process of new art, a rich list of exclusive and cool gifts are waiting for you, such as vinyls; posters; commemorative photo books; Merchandise; transcriptions; mention on credits (on albums, videos and papery merchandise); Art works (I am a painter too); Skype lessons; free tickets for Any show of mine.
Automatically included in Facebook Private group where You will be able to actively participate to my productions through suggestions and  opinions and where You can share Your music, paint works, pictures, whatever you like or produce that you want to make us appreciate.
Last but not least, appearing in Official Music Videos.
The more Our Group will grow, the better will be the benefits.
Let's imagine for a moment. TODAY, a 30 dollars contribution will give you my enormous gratitude; some merchandise; some vinyls and free tickets in a nice but modest place. TOMORROW, may be, still enormous gratitude but also a mention at Grammy Nomination; a back stage view at Carnagie Hall; a full day attendance to a recording session at Paramount Studios in LA.
Never say Never, right? ;)

With this funny reflection, I kindly salute You and deeply thank You for Your time and eventually Your help. For further informations check www.amdandy.com or visit my Facebook (AM Dandy) and Instagram (amdandymusic) profiles.
