Hey, all! I'm an author of diverse, character-driven fiction, primarily but not exclusively LGBTQIA. I focus mainly on relationships, including family, friends, and romantic partners. Alongside that, I review literature and fiction of all types. I'm also a freelance editor with credits in multiple genres.

In the last year, many small publishing houses featuring exactly the diversity I love have closed their doors. This has hurt both authors and readers. Although I am traditionally published with a small company, I also have a number of self-published titles available.

Why am I on Patreon?

The biggest hurdle for me — and I suspect for many people — is accessibility.

I want my books accessible to more readers. Right now, my work is available in ebook format, with most novels and novellas also in print. But so far, only one novella is in audiobook format. It costs a lot to produce an audiobook start to finish, especially a full novel. I don’t want to do it halfway. Making sure my books can be enjoyed regardless of whether someone can read them in print or ebook is important to me, especially as a writer with a disability myself.

Another issue for me is having enough money to travel. Book conferences, especially for LGBTQIA literature, are rarely held near enough to where I live to make driving possible. My own disabilities often make travel difficult as well. I simply don't have the funds to attend, which means my books are in fewer people's hands, and I'm not making connections directly with readers and other authors. This is a way to generate enough income to travel and meet folks in person!

Besides all that, I need to be able to pay for things like professional editing and cover design. Sure, I'm a freelancer myself. But trust me, you don't want your authors to self-edit. To provide higher-quality work, I need to hand my writing over to someone else. Same with artwork.

What the heck is Patreon?

It's a way for you to subscribe and help fund my work.

Great, but what's in it for patrons?

Think of it as being like a magazine. You get extra content and fun stuff based on your contributions. This includes exclusive stories, author chats, character interviews, the chance to name people and places, opportunities to provide prompts and challenges to me and decide what I write next, and more.

I'll also be offering writing- and editing-related content to help you become a more polished writer. My specialty is in making prose flow, and I love sharing my insights with others.

Your support means being able to interact with readers in new ways. I'm looking forward to it!
