About

I am Anita Mathias, I live in Oxford England, and I blog at Dreaming Beneath the Spires, http://anitamathias.com/.
My most recent book is Francesco, Artist of Florence: The Man Who Gave Too Much. My first book was Wandering Between Two Worlds, which is a memoir in essays. I am working on a more traditional memoir, Mind has Mountains.
I first arrived in Oxford to read English at Somerville College, Oxford University, where I earned my B.A. and M.A. moved on to America to do a Masters in Creative Writing at Ohio State University, spent an entirely accidental 17 years there, and then returned to England ten years ago
Dreaming Beneath the Spires is a personal spiritual blog. I explore what it means to follow Christ as a wife, mum, and writer in affluent and beautiful 21st century Oxford. I am slowly blogging through the Bible, a post every week or so.
My big themes include experiencing the love of God, being friends with Jesus, being filled with the Spirit, the magic of prayer, the power of gratitude, the wisdom of the Bible, and the joy of reading and writing!
But I write about other things too. Travel, always travel! Gardening. The books I read. My attempts to be a superlative good-enough housekeeper, and to get lean and mean, strong and healthy!

Location

Oxford, Oxford, UK
I aim to create beautifully crafted, beautiful blogs that inspire people afresh to follow Jesus; to live praisefully with joy and gratitude in their hearts; to explore the treasures of Scripture, and to experience the love of God, the friendship of Jesus, and the fullness of the Holy Spirit.

This takes time, a day or two a week.

And I live in a world of bills and responsibilities, and our first-born has just started university

If you could support me in creating my blogs with a minimum contribution of $1 a month so that I could write guilt-free and money-free, I would be eternally grateful.
