For $1/month, you get access to all of the stories, poems, and posts (public and Patron-only), emailed directly to you. You'll also have the opportunity to pre-order books and suchlike before non-Patrons do, and you'll get sneak previews of the content of said books.
If you give $5/month, you'll get access to all the stuff from the $1 tier, and the audio from the $3 tier, plus you'll automatically get a signed copy of my books in the mail, and occasional random other goodies in the mail - postcards, extra writings, definitely not anything creepy like a lock of my hair.
I write comedic fantasy that pulls you into new worlds and mirrors the ridiculousness of our own.
I write immersive word-paintings of faerielands and humanlands that show how the world truly is and how it might be if we don’t stop what we're fucking doing and how it could be instead if we worked really hard at it.
And I write stark, punchy poetry that gives you a glimpse into the twisted hallways of my depression and anxiety, because it is a fact that all funny, creative people are tortured inside, and that needs to be acknowledged.
I am an independent publisher, which means I don’t wait around for some dude in a suit to decide if my work gets seen. I write it, edit it (or pay someone else to edit it), and then I publish it, and you get to read it. Often just a few days after it’s written. Magical, right?
One of the ways I do that is via Patreon. Patreon is a wonderful platform because it allows me to publish my short fiction and poetry one piece at a time for your reading pleasure, instead of waiting and putting them together into an anthology. I can also release audio versions of every story and poem I write. And I can interface with my community as I go and have the direct support of my people. You could be one of those people!
Here on Patreon, I am committed to publishing at least two pieces every month, usually more. Sprinkled in among the short stories, flash fiction, and poetry, I’ve been posting a serial novella, chapter-by-chapter, called Uprooted by the Storm. And you get news, previews, and opportunities for input on all of my books before anyone else.
I’ve noticed that a lot of people seem to view Patreon as a crowdfunding site. I don’t see it that way – I see it as a content subscription, like Netflix or Audible, except that you get to pick and choose which artists you get content from. And most importantly, your money goes directly to the artists. It’s a fantastic way to support a creative business, while getting all of our best work.
And I put a lot of work into this site. I really hope you’ll consider subscribing! Even if you don’t, I appreciate you taking the time to read all of this. You’re pretty rad.
