Hello, and welcome!

Many years ago, when I was about twelve, my grandpa asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. My answer was an enthusiastic, "I want to be a hippie!" I wouldn't say any of the adults in my family were exactly pleased with that answer, but what I meant and the vision they had in their minds were two different things. Had I been able to better articulate my desires for adulthood, I would have said, "I want to be one of those artistic types who wears what she wants and plays music and makes people feel happy." I don't know about making people happy, but with both feet firmly planted in adulthood, I've at least definitely got the clothes and music covered. Plus, I have the bonus of a great husband and four pretty incredible daughters.

As my daughters have grown and we've journeyed through homeschooling, we have incorporated music into our everyday life in a huge way. Family singalongs, learning to play different instruments, even writing songs together are things we do every day. I have taken this lifestyle for granted, not realizing that there are families out there who wish to bring music into their homes, but don't know where to begin. That realization combined with my love for traditional and folk music, has set me on a more purposeful path of late--while I love being a performing folk singer/songwriter, it's not as doable as it was pre-family. Songwriting time is limited, and night gigs at coffee shops, restaurants, and bars, are not exactly compatible with our current bedtime routine. I can however, make music in my house and share it with the masses! I hope that this method of living out my dream checks off the "Make People Happy" box of my requirements. Thanks for visiting--enjoy!

I know, I know, this seems like an impossibly huge number. But for $1/month, you could have a part in what could potentially be a pretty fun project, and live vicariously through my family as we travel the Eastern half of the United States, making music! I hate asking for money, but I have high hopes for this summer project. You can think of this project in many different ways: It could be a living songbook for your own personal enjoyment; it could be a homeschool curriculum covering history, geography, and music; It could be cheap entertainment; If you find me super annoying you can use it as a way to spike your blood pressure, viewing me as one of those people you love to hate, that you just can't tear yourself from, even though you know I'm bad for your health. The possibilities are endless!

This amount of financial backing would allow us to cover our bills at home as well as cover most, if not all of our traveling expenses, if we do it right.

(For more information and financial details regarding this project, please refer to my post titled "A Hair-brained Idea")

Thank you for your generosity and for spreading the word. I'm really excited for this project and hope that it can happen so that I can give back to all of you in song!
