  • Early access by 3 days to our Feature articles and other selected articles. Readers who aren’t supporters at the Contributing Publisher level and above must wait till the article is released publicly, which will be 3 days after the initial publishing date.

Why did I start
Areo?

I launched Areo Magazine with these goals: support free expression, humanism, rationalism, human rights, and science. I believe these values are found among reasonable, ethical thinkers with a wide variety of political views. Hence, Areo's criteria for publishing has been:

  • Is it well-argued?
  • Is it well-evidenced?
  • Is it thought-provoking?

Areo
contributors have included scientists, historians, philosophers, political scientists, mathematicians, academics, students, cultural critics, and human rights campaigners.

We've survived through the kind but rare donations of readers who believe in my vision, my efforts, and through funding from my own pocket. But I want Areo to grow and this requires me to dedicate more time to reading, assessing, editing, writing, and delivering content for you.

With your backing I hope to:

  • Hire more editors to increase production. I've already brought Helen Pluckrose and Oliver Traldi on board thanks our patron's support.
  • Commission well-known, popular authors to provide their analysis of current events.
  • Challenge anti-science and irrational orthodoxy.
  • Ensure Areo can publish pieces which require expert fact-checking.
  • Give a voice to minorities in religious and secular communities.
  • Cover the costs of hosting Areo, its plugins, and web development/maintenance.
  • Promote well-argued, well-evidenced work which supports free expression, humanism, rationalism, human rights, science, and defends the values of the Enlightenment.

I think this work is important and if you’ve come with me this far you might think the same. I hope you’ll consider joining me in this venture to enable more of the writers you love to produce more of the writing you want to read.

You can also give a one time donation through PayPal.

I hope I've compelled you to join.

My best,

— Malhar Mali, Founder and Editor
