Propellers keep us moving slowly forward.

AK is a volunteer-run project, a labor of love. Our mission is already gigantic, so we honestly don't have time to make loads of digital clutter or merch schwag, but we are very happy to share:

• Digital download codes of our musical back catalogue via Bandcamp
• Early access to new media like music, videos, podcast.
• Informal content not for the general public like videos of life onboard and early drafts of songs.
• Be our guest for a guided tour and dinner onboard if you're ever nearby.
• Your name inscribed on the mast.

PS: actual photo of our propeller, making out with Claire the engineer.

PS: this photo was taken by the captain of a passing tanker, we hailed him on the radio and he sent it by whatsapp.

Anchors hold fast and keep us off the rocks.

PLUS whatever physical merchandise that we create. Right now we are working on something practical- a fabric face mask with our logo. Later there will be a hoodie. We might ask you to cover the cost of shipping if it's too expensive for us.

PS: actual photo of our anchors, named Gladys and Wahya

About Arka Kinari (Filastine & Nova)

ARKA- (Latin) a vessel, from arcere, meaning “to hold off or defend”
KINARI- (Sanskrit) a half-human, half-bird musician, guardian of the tree of life.

A floating cultural platform launched by the artists Filastine & Nova, a seventy-ton sailing ship on a voyage to promote resilience to climate change and re-engagement with the sea.

MUSIC & MESSAGE
By day Arka Kinari hosts workshops, skill shares, and small concerts by local musicians. By night the ship transforms into a stage for the performance by Filastine & Nova, using music to sound the alarm for climate change and cinematic visuals to imagine life after the carbon economy. As a touring production powered by the sun and shared at public waterfronts, Arka Kinari is both message and method.

SLOW TOUR
The maritime network was the original internet, mixing peoples, languages, and ideas. Arka Kinari revives disappearing trade-routes with culture as the cargo to bring people back to their waterfronts. Arka Kinari’s maiden voyage stopped in twenty-three nations, crossing the Atlantic, Caribbean, and Panama Canal before being trapped in the Pacific Ocean for months during the pandemic. Arka Kinari finally entered her home waters of Indonesia in September 2020, and is now touring the spice routes of the archipelago.

IN THANKS
Your support goes directly to our monthly operating costs of maintaining the ship and feeding the all-volunteer crew.
Patrons will be the first to get new music created onboard the ship's studio. Supporters can enjoy free downloads of Filastine & Nova's back catalogue in the meantime. A podcast is in the works to tell our story, from conception to creation, Patreon’s will be the first to hear it. There are regular video updates, also shared first on Patreon.
