I'll send you a hand-written thank-you card!
(Warning, my handwriting stinks. But in a cute way.)
Plus bonus audio, undying thanks, a warm feeling, a shout-out.
I'll send you some ARM & A LEG BAND-AIDS!
(Hey, you should see what they charge for Band-Aids in the hospital.)
Plus, discount codes for merch when we get it. (Band-aids only available here.)
And of course.... bonus audio, undying thanks, a shout-out, and a hand-written thank-you card.
(Note: The Band-Aids are a one-time-per-person thing. I can't send 'em every month.)
This is my story too, and that’s why I’m making this podcast. An Arm and a Leg aims to be entertaining, empowering—even useful. I'm a reporter who's worked with outlets like NPR, Marketplace, 99 Percent Invisible and Planet Money—so I bring my skill at finding and telling revealing, surprising stories.
But the project’s big focus, since I’m in this mess too, is connecting and problem-solving, together.
You are not alone. We may be screwed, but we’re together. And if we want to get even a little bit less-screwed, we need each other. If nothing else, we can be good company to each other.
- We can have a good, dark laugh.
- We can offer each other empathy.
- We can sing hilarious punk-rock campfire-songs of rage at whoever turns out to be responsible.
And I need YOUR help to make it happen.
I pay my kick-ass collaborators—the editor who makes the show actually good, the audio engineer who makes it sound good, the consulting producer who helps guide our vision, and other folks who make this whole thing possible.
These people are GREAT, and they all have rent to pay, groceries to buy and... medical bills.
We get some support from our pals at Kaiser Health News, but it's not enough to pay those basic expenses for making the show. The rest comes from you.
And I run a tight ship: Our World Headquarters is the three-season sun porch behind my son's bedroom.
And so far, I've been doing this for free, full-time.
That can't go on forever. We've got big plans for the next year, and we need your help.
So come on in. There are rewards — like a shout-out on the show, and hand-written thank you cards, and Arm and a Leg band-aids.
... and I'm looking for YOUR input on what our next rewards should be.
Check it out. And thank you for making this show possible!
