I’m Ashley F. Miller – a writer, artist, and musician. If you’re not familiar, Patreon is a way of becoming a patron of the work that I do – I produce cool and interesting things, and you pay me a little bit for each of them; you can even put a monthly cap on how much you’ll pay. Aside from rewards for your contributions, everything I write will remain available on my website and YouTube, donating here is just a way of making sure I have the ability to keep doing what I’m doing, but more and better.

What kind of content:

My most popular Uke videos are the theme from Deep Throat and Me and Bobby McGee.
Here are my most popular posts:
How the Morehouse Football Team ruined Dear White People, and proved its point
How to make that cheap plastic wig look good
Racism, homophobia, and how I lost my dad last week
More on Shermer, PZ, and Michael Nugent

So silly and straightforward ukulele songs, race, film, costume and makeup tips, LGBT issues, atheist, and feminist issues are at least the most popular of the content I cover.

Who the heck are you?

Most people know me from my work on The Orbit, Freethought Blogs, and on YouTube, as a ukulele player.

I speak across the US on topics related to feminism, atheism, and communications.  I also speak about pop culture, especially reality television and film, because I worked in that industry for several years on shows like Toddlers & Tiaras and Flipping Out.  My writing focuses on similar topics, and I've been published in the best-selling Women's Studies text Women's Voices, Feminist Visions, alongside writers like Gloria Steinem, bell hooks, Maya Angelou, and Jessica Valenti.

Other places you can find my work include publication in Salon, Freethought Blogs, and the academic journal CrossCurrents; editorial department work on television shows that aired on Bravo, TLC, and Oxygen; and guest spots on podcasts, local network affiliates, radio programs, Al Jazeera, and the New York Times.

How often do you post?

I average about a post a week, which works out to about 5 a month.

What great projects are planned

>Paintings about race, gender, power, and pretty colors

>A Choose Your Own Adventure Regency Novel

>I want to write a book about how to survive online harassment (So Your Vagina is Destroying America: Surviving Online Harassment with Friends, Humor, and No Dignity Whatsoever)

>
I’ve been working on a YA, Terry Pratchettesque Novel ( Enchanted Forest, INC)

>Uke songs to record by David Bowie, Elton John, Coldplay, Monty Python, and Tim Minchin

>More paintings in my series about gender presentation and power

>Makeup tutorials

>And dozens of other ideas, big and small.

Even a little bit of money makes all of these projects much more feasible. I currently make almost nothing from what I do online. My content has gotten over 1.5 million views and hits, but I'm not making much money from it.

What's the dream?

My big dream is to be able to focus on writing and other creative endeavors for a while without having to worry about whether it's feasible to do so.  My smaller dream is simply to be able to keep producing at all.

So if you'd like to support, just click to become a Patron, decide what reward level you’d like to contribute at (even if you could contribute a dollar, that’d make such a big difference!), and join me on this journey of hopefully getting to Make All The Things.

Holy crap, thank you!  Every three months, I will send you a painting (of whatever you request) either digitally or no larger than 144 sq inches on canvas OR record a ukulele song of your choice (subject to ability) and if we're ever in the same town, I will hang out with you in public somewhere and buy you a drink (soda, tea, alcohol, w/e). Plus all the above!

Goals
$25 of $50 per Post
At $50 per post, I will be able to spend an hour doing a live webcast every month.  It could be a jam session on a musical instrument or a return of the Ashley F. Miller Show & Podcast, or just a Q&A with Patrons.
