As the Sands Burn is the only soap opera dedicated to the lives of students at a Historical Black college, Ahpla University. The soap was created in 1998 and ran consecutively until 2006. In 2000, the soap gained so much popularity that it was featured on BET.com for several years. The soap became so popular that a spin off called Beyond the Burning Sands launched where a rival campus was created with characters as well.

In 2006, ATSB was picked back up by author Lynnette Daughtry Barrett and written until 2008.
Darrius Jerome Gourdine picked the soap back up in 2011 and continued with daily episodes running Monday through Friday. The new seasons now have new characters with very familiar old characters making permanent and temporary appearances.

With the financial support of fans of ATSB, I will be able to consistently write and post daily episodes while taking care of the expense of graphic design and website hosting.
