Hello! My name is Awanthi Vardaraj. I mostly write about food, travel, and books, although I also write quite a lot about depression because I have major depressive disorder (or unipolar depression). I am open and honest about it because I want to #EndTheStigma.

Also, because you asked, I am the owner of a tiny little home-based baking business called The Dough Whisperer, and I founded an anti-sexual violence org called IASA (India Against Sexual Assault).

So why Patreon? Well, I need your help! I want to write full-time and not worry about all my bills and my rent. I am a full-time freelancer but it would be nice to be able to work on my novel full-time, and only work on projects and selective essays. Right now, I'm hustling. It would be amazing to slow down and write what I want to write. I also have a food blog I'd like to spend more time on, but ingredients are expensive.

I've written for Saveur, NPR's The Salt, The Kitchn, GOOD, Headspace, The Indian Express, Wear Your Voice Mag, and more. Please support me as I go on to do more amazing things! Thank you so much.

Pet food is expensive, and it adds up. My cats keep me happy and grounded.
