About Frederick French-Pounce

Hello Friends! For the past couple of years I have been working to both break down all the key differences between classic mono and stereo mixes with Mixology, and to highlight the joy of the classic mono mix with Back to Mono. Both of these shows I run as podcasts, free for anyone to enjoy and share.

When compiling an episode of Mixology, I spend time researching, needledropping, and listening to the records in my collection, making the effort to source all the neccessary original mixes on original LPs and 45s, or in their best digital source, to ensure the most comprehensive and accurate results possible. I have previously imported LPs and CDs from America, Germany, and Australia, and of course purchased copies in my homeland of the UK, making sure to unearth any mix variations previously undiscovered.

As for Back to Mono, I am constantly on the lookout for new pickups that I could include on the show, exploring artists new to me and my fans, while also including classics, rarities and outtakes to make the show accessible to all listeners. Every needledrop is from my own collection, done by myself, and each show includes a discussion on all the tracks involved, with many highlighting three classic cuts from an album, and focussing on what makes this album, not only so great, but so great in mono.

I would love for you to come along with me on this journey, so please check out Mixology at (or on your podcast platform of choice), and Back to Mono at, get to know the shows, and should you wish to support the show directly, we have some wonderful tiers on offer for you, with hours of extra content for fans of both shows.

As always, thank you for listening,
