Hello!I'm Trudi. I'm a music photographer from the county of Kent in England. I've been photographing bands for over a decade, and over the years I've put a lot of time and energy into documenting gigs (and developing my personal style along the way). I try to show people the excitement and energy of a live show in photos, in the hope that what I do will get more people going to gigs, supporting musicians directly and helping to keep music LIVE. In the course of doing this, I put a tonne of images online on http://www.bandsonstage.co.uk and share lots of my work on social media.
The downside is that getting to gigs, taking and editing photos, maintaining my gear and simply getting the end results out there can be a time-consuming and expensive labour of love, and despite having a few brilliant clients, a lot of what I do in this world of shrinking budgets is still largely at my own expense.
By supporting me through Patreon, you'll be helping me to keep afloat, keep creating, and keep sharing, with a little less worry about how I'm going to juggle everything. My goal is simply for my photography to move a little closer towards funding itself.
What can I offer you?All patrons gets my patron-only activity feed and a digital reward (hi-res download of a music, travel or nature photo) every month, plus early access to new merch items and occasional giveaways. Other tiers include prints, mugs, discounts, tutorials, access to a private Q&A group, me editing your photos, photo shoots...so whether you're a consumer of concert photography or want to learn a little more about it, hopefully there's something there for you.
Whether you choose to support me with a subscription, or just a virtual hug and a link share, it's all hugely appreciated. The support I have received already over the years has meant so much to me and stopped me from throwing the towel in more than once; support through here will enable me to keep giving back.
Why become a Patron?Maybe you've enjoyed some of the pictures I've taken of your favourite musicians over the years (thank you!) and want me to be able to keep doing it. Maybe you’d like a way to show a little support that doesn't involve buying physical prints. Maybe you've downloaded some of my stuff from Facebook on the quiet but secretly feel a little bit weird about it ;)
Whatever the reason, I think this is a great way to give people the opportunity to say 'Hey, I really like what you're doing - here's something tangible to say thanks for doing it!'.
I guess I'm looking at Patreon as something between a virtual tip jar and a magazine subscription.
Where will the money go?
All* subscriptions and donations made via Patreon will go towards:To find out more before you commit to anything, read this information about pledging.
- Gig-related expenses (mostly fuel or train tickets)
- The essential but dull things like insurance, repairs/maintenance, backup storage for 6 terabytes (and counting) of images, website hosting and cloud storage
- Getting more of my decade-plus archive of photography online for your viewing pleasure instead of it gathering dust on a hard drive
- Buying coffee to keep me going!
I have no idea what the future holds, whether this thing will fly, or fall spectacularly on its butt (much like me attempting ice skating). It makes me feel kind of weird and vulnerable putting this page 'out there', but nothing ventured, nothing learned!
Thank you for reading, and thank you in advance for your support.
Wait - where's the intro video gone? I've pulled it for now - too many personal niggles about the quality. Watch out for a replacement!
