We review banned books and tell strange stories!

Friends of the Banned Library promotes lifelong learning and junk for all those that visit the Banned Library. They help gather funds, promote programming, and get materials for the BL. The Friends of the Banned Library has operated for a while, we think, there's been some strange things that happened.

What Happened?

In 2014, a guy said, man, this whole running a library thing is weird and people seem to like it. That guy, named Evan, had been writing about the programs and conducting a podcast about books that have been challenged and banned for a while and really liked doing it but could not get government funding because he never applied. He formed the Friends of the Banned Library on Patreon cause, fuck it, why not? Since being founded, some great people have decided they are awesome and became members of the Friends of the Library. 

MISSION: BANNED

Our mission is to strengthen, promote, and help out the library as it just keeps creating new content and stuff, especially highlighting books that have been challenged and banned in other libraries who are jerks.

VISION

Friends of the Banned Library is just the best group of people you'll probably never meet because they're from all over the Internet and our travel budget is very low. Great people, though, and they support a spirited and swear-word filled discussion of banned and challenged books. Hugs and kisses.

VALUES

Banned - some people don't want you to read things. To hell with those people.
Advocacy – we're like, all about advocating stuff
Nonconformity - we don't want you to be like everybody else cause other people are bad
Nerve - do you think you can take us in a fight? probably right. please not the face
Education – we want people to learn about stuff, like books that other people don't want you to read
Discipline - yeah, we don't have that but we try and that counts?
Pizza - We love pizza
