Hi there!

I'm David James Young – and all my friends are in bar bands.

There's a lot to unpack in that sentence, so let's work through it in two parts.

Firstly: I'm David James Young.

I am a freelance music journalist, critic, musician and podcaster. I have been interviewing bands and musicians for eight years and have had the opportunity to speak with some of the biggest names in music.

I have been playing music for 12 years and have spent the last 8 years focused on my solo project, Nothing Rhymes with David.

Other podcasts I have worked on include The Screwjob, which ran from 2011 to 2013 and was about wrestling; and Hottest 100s and 1000s, a still-running podcast in which me and three other music nerds delve into the history of the Triple J Hottest 100.

You can find out more about me at www.davidjamesyoung.com or my Facebook fan page.

You can also follow me on Twitter and Instagram, both @DJYwrites.

Secondly: All my friends are in bar bands.

I have been going to shows for thirteen years and have met some remarkable people along the way. In 2015, I started a podcast named after a song by The Wonder Years that I felt best reflected this.

In the years since, I've spoken to some top-tier names, including:

- Homegrown heroes like Courtney BarnettThe Smith Street Band, Gang of Youths, Urthboy and Amy Shark
- International acts like Beach Slang, Modern Baseball, Basement, Turnover, Japandroids and AW
- Up-and-coming local acts such as The Pinheads, Tired Lion, Oslow and Rachel Maria Cox

I have some massive plans for the podcast that are on-going. In order to expand, I'm turning to you guys to help out. If you've listened to the podcast and enjoyed yourself, why not throw in a couple of bucks every month? Every little bit helps, and I would appreciate your support so, so much.

I look forward to sharing more stories with you on All My Friends Are in Bar Bands, where no genre and no topic is off-limits.
