TIME FOR CHANGE!

Dear Friends and Supporters,

To be a rebel in America today is to be kind, generous and honest. And that's what I'm up, to and I need support. My effort is for one mission - to ensure our children have a healthy planet and respectable country within the next twenty years, and they can look at our generation and say, "wow, they made it happen for us!" I know I want to honestly face my own two children and look them straight in the eye and say "I did it for you."

Our political leaders need help, the leaders who are pushing for good environmental policies, human rights and humanitarian causes and more. Our job, as the people, is to help keep them honest but more importantly it's to support them with the good work they are doing. We, the people, are their powerhouse, but too many of us are so busy just trying to survive in a system that is no longer working for the people. Do you feel stuck and unempowered? You're not alone!

I view myself as an impact producer beyond the film/media world. I like the real world where efforts can build and reshape communities. It's not easy to do, but this is what I'm inspired to do via film work, radio/television and public projects:

HOMELESS PROJECTS

Jenny's Project: Food and connection is needed.  Small funds will help pay for materials to start a "relief" project for many of the most destitute in San Francisco. This idea is inspired by Jenny, a legless elderly homeless woman in San Francisco whom I met last week. I hope to surprise her with this project so she can see how much her suffering will inspire others to do what's right in life "People first. Always." $200

The Queen's Project: An alliance with St. Vincent de Paul and the 4-H Club, along with others to teach the homeless how to knit and other basic skills in order to cultivate a living. Queen Elizabeth mandated everyone wear a knitted hat to help energize an economy. We aim to do the same. Her reign sparked the "Golden Age". We can do even better. $200.

TECH Ewaste and Education: I'm currently pushing for our school district to be "tech free" for an entire week to bring recognition to the environmental hazards of ewaste and mining that are devastating oceans and land. We like technology, but it's important to acknowledge and understand consequences to our consumer habits. How can we curb our appetite and be more responsible? And how do we keep the mega technology businesses honest?

People's Environmental News: I just wrapped up a nine week television pilot with cohost Charlie Siler to bring attention to the environmental key leaders who are challenging global climate, ocean acidification and pollution issues. Programs were produced with a team of volunteers at Community Media Center of Marin. These videos are now available free online.

ENVIRONMENT: I produced an ocean environmental film four years ago called Racing with Copepods to address education and ocean issues. The project brought together Marin County youth, global scientists including Dr. Richard Kirby, Dr. Sylvia Earle, along with international sailors and artists to raise awareness of a terrifying reality that is emerging front and center - ocean acidification and pollution. I did not get paid for my three years of dedicated work on this project. I had a higher goal in mind - move my community in order to inspire others to make an impact. We can do it if we're talking about it. The film was accepted at numerous film festivals around the country and went abroad to Tasmania. The film is now available for free online. We made a difference. This was my first film. And if I can do it, you can do it. You just need  passion.

Next, I look forward to teaming up with Heirs to Our Oceans to bring their powerful message and program to Lake County where there are many rivers and lakes and inspire opportunity and education. Our first event is early 2018.

Immigrants: In 2018 I'm preparing to work with the Consul General of Guatemala to highlight the rich cultural heritage of many living in Marin County. Many local immigrants are indigenous from the highlands of Guatemala who are just now beginning to share the values and heritage of their country. My work will also focus on a couple key women leaders in the community to elevate their voice and the contributions they've made to Marin County in order to strengthen their community as a whole.  My intention is to highlight better policies between Guatemala and the United States.

This project will also serve as my next film project as I lay the groundwork now for funding and team building.

Music/Culture: After nearly four years, I plan to wrap up a film project next year called The Man Behind The White Guitar to be inspired by a musician who inspired me. Jose Neto was a force behind Harry Belafonte's musician career and the film will highlight Neto who stayed true to himself and his music, following his own heart and calling. This film will bring together some of our key musical legacies who have stood the test of time and who can inspire us "to be better than we think we can be," as Belafonte said during our interview in New York.

I took a great lesson from my father who striked against the federal government under Ronald Reagan in 1981. I was 13 years old when my family struggled to survive after losing almost everything, including our dignity. My father stood for honesty then at a great cost to our family. I was angry at him for years putting our family at risk until just a few years ago when I began to understand the sacrifices people take to stand for truth and honesty. Today, I'm standing for truth and honesty. I'm prepared to do that full tilt,  in honor of my father and many others who have sacrificed their careers, time and money to pursue truth and honesty when bad policies, propaganda and big business and political interests have dominated us for too long.

Today, as an adult,  I look back to the 1970s with 20/20 vision and understand that President Jimmy Carter had us on an amazing track but big business interests and the oil giants dominated the campaigns, confusing people with untruths and fear that have lead us to the disaster we are now facing politically, economically and environmentally. We can NEVER allow that to happen again. Carter had pushed for sustainable energy initiatives (he is the Father of the Solar Age) and conservation policies, when we knew about the dangers of fossil fuels. Today as we face global climate change, melting polar ice caps and ocean acidification, we must acknowledge we MUST do all we can to ensure new energy and conservation policies are established in the United States, so our country can resume being the leader of one of most important topic of our historic humanity.

Take a look at the film screening/panel discussion we did in Marin County for Carter's 93rd Birthday Celebration. And you can see the full Jimmy Carter Celebration weeklong efforts here: https://jimmycarterjamboree2017.com/

I'm a self proclaimed "people's ambassador" putting every bit of my energy, time and money into either supporting the political leaders making positive environmental and human rights policies, reporting news and information on my TV and radio programs (I do not get paid for these) AND producing events that help inspire people to get involved and feel empowered for political, economic, social and environmental change.

Am I interested in running for a political office? Absolutely. I'm getting ready and I need your support so I can let that fire in my belly light others up with inspiration on a positive level.

Your financial support will help put me in a position where I can help PEOPLE who do want positive change. I have no personal debt, minus a small university loan, I have few expenses. Therefore, your contribution is supporting my basic living expenses (Rent and food), costs associated with running my media programs, and other expenditures to support my direct work. Your money does not go to overhead costs that fund expensive political advisers, advertisements, marketing or other costs that take away from the true work that an individual can create in the name of many. My voice is your voice and I will take no money from lobbyists, corporations, big business, politicians or others with an agenda if they do not align with the ones I publicly share.

If you choose to be a supporter, I will share with you weekly video updates of the work I'm doing along with the lessons I learn to empower YOU on a bigger level. I will hold at least one public gathering next year and you will be an honorary guest. I will reveal my expenses monthly, so you know how I'm using your money. I will be completely transparent and maybe you'll get inspired to take action, too.

My agendas:

Environment: Raise the visible level of the people doing the good work for us, highlighting efforts, challenges, policies and work through my radio and television shows. My radio show focuses on people living with passion and purpose to help us be inspired to reshape the important values of being American. My television program is an environmental program, specifically designed to highlight the people, organizations and issues making change for all of us, so more can get inspired and mobilize action.

Education and Technology. How can we balance a $60 billion dollar tech industry's interest that is now dominating our public schools with gadgets? Our children know more corporate logos than the names of botanicals. More hard science is emerging that technology, especially programs marketed to our children, is addicting on the level of opiades and heroine. How we can connect our children more wholesomely with the power of rich education filled with critical thinking skills, connection to land stewardship and responsibility? How can we engage as a healthier, more cohesive community? I'm working with filmmakers who are exploring these issues and challenging our local high school with new models that other, more progressive nature/environmental schools have adopted.

American Diversity. Our greatest gift in America is our diversity. We have more "global peace ambassadors" in our country than any other. We have a richness of culture, ideas and values. Our immigrants are the ones who can garner peaceful relationships with their extended families around the planet. That is a gift to cultivate and one not to shame or ever knock down. The Native Americans in our country need a stronger voice, as they are the ones who understand the value of water, nature and heart. My work is dedicated to them. The Ohlone Indians said it best: A strong hunter would give their best meat to those most in need. It earned them honor and respect. Greed was never valued.

President Jimmy Carter: Carter is my inspiration. It's time to recognize a great leader who had vision. I aim to highlight his work and ensure our history books portray Carter with historical accuracy. I look to work with a team to bring his name to both California State and Federal leaders and advocate national bridges, parks and other public spaces be named in his honor, so we can be reminded of the power of humility, honesty and kindness in our leadership and inspire new leaders with such values.  I will work to create a national week in his honor, inspired by Marin County's lead in 2017 celebrating a full week on his 93rd birthday fostering opportunities for people to engage in human rights, environmental and community peace gathering, events and efforts.

More agendas will be revealed in time, related to homelessness, economic disparity and peace efforts.
