BE Allattis creating Independent Scholarship on Fantastic Literature
All the content access that the Basic level offers, plus a vote on future content focus. If you want all the special stuff and a voice in what I focus on next, this is the tier for you!
Currently, new content creation will be slow, as I focus on the Questioning Mononormativity book and made my rounds through this summer's conferences and convention. But I expect to start working on the series soon, and that's when this vote will really matter!
About BE Allatt
I'm still working on building my Patreon page. Unfortunately for me, graduate programs in Literature do not include classes on self-marketing, video creation and editing, website building, and many other skills I am currently teaching myself. I aim to produce quality educational content about works in science fiction, fantasy, horror, and other fantastic genres; I want it to be relevant, interesting, and informative for academics and non-academics alike.
Currently, I am in the process of starting a regular YouTube series to that end, while also attending and speaking at various academic conferences and fan conventions in North America and Europe. If I'm really lucky, perhaps I can eventually make it to conferences and conventions on other continents! You can always keep abreast of my latest developments and ongoing con schedule via beallatt.com.
I just want to keep doing what I love and pay my bills at the same time, without sacrificing my energy to an underpaid and overworked adjunct position in an academic department more concerned with dollars than sense. Beyond my independent scholarship, I'm a freelance editor in fantastic genres, memoirs, and biographical non-fiction. I've also been known to write for the occasional political campaign, but only for candidates I personally believe in.
I'm a firm believer in uplifting marginalized voices, raising awareness of invisible identities, and tirelessly supporting #OwnVoices.
You can readily find me on Facebook (be.allatt.us), and on my website. I rarely use Twitter, but I do exist in the Twitterverse. Kyle MacLachlan's account even liked one of my few tweets, once! #TrueStory
I'll try to get a video about me up here sometime soon, but you can always go watch one of my recorded presentations hosted on my website and YouTube. For now, I'll leave you with one of my favorites, which was a talk I gave to my local Nerd Nite community --- an experience I can absolutely recommend, since communities of nerds who are drinking while learning are some of the kindest audiences on the planet! Many thanks to Nerd Nite - Austin for having me on their stage and hosting this video on their Vimeo page.
