At this tier, you will get access to my patron-only newsletter AND recurring personal reflections on what it's like to research the far-right, do a PhD program, and do anti-fascist work. This is a higher tier so that if Nazis want to learn this stuff, they at least have to pay me a little more than the baseline! If you are not a Nazi, this unfortunately still means you will have to pay more, but I will try to make it worth your while!

About Becca Lewis

Hi! My name is Becca Lewis, and I'm an academic, writer, and researcher based in Northern California. I write about politics, media, and technology, from a specifically anti-fascist, pro-justice perspective. Most of my research to date has focused on far-right internet subcultures and their propaganda, disinformation, and media manipulation techniques. I also sometimes look at Silicon Valley itself and the way its culture and politics structure the technologies we use. You may also know me from Twitter, where I've been a bit of a progressive loudmouth ever since Nazis and their fellow travelers got angry about my research a couple years back and accidentally gained me a bunch of new followers.

I'm starting this Patreon for a few reasons. First, academic publishing is slow-moving, hard to access, and often written for a very specific audience of...other academics. I love writing for a more general audience, and I love writing about contemporary issues, so this will give me a chance to do that more regularly.

Second, I love posting my thoughts and ideas on Twitter, but unfortunately, there are still a lot of Nazis (and other unpleasant folks) on there who can make it difficult to have honest and thoughtful discussions. My hope is to create a space here where I can safely and openly talk about issues that are important to me personally.

Third, and most practically, I am a struggling graduate student, and any income sources I can find are helpful. By becoming a patron, you're not only supporting my work here, but also helping support my academic research.

I hope you will subscribe and enjoy!
